Okay, being Baptized is JUST a symbol. You have to except Jesus Christ as your saviour in heart heart to forgive you of all of your sins to be Saved or Born Again. If you didn't do this then all you were doing was being dunked under water. If you do this(ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins) then you are saved and you don't even have to be Baptized to be Saved YOU MUST be forgiven of sins, there is no other way. Being Baptized is a symbol which means_ Down with the old man(the sinner) up with the new(the Born Again Christian). If you are still confused I would consult a preacher- God Bless- I hope I helped!

Hi JAKE -- or REB. Only God knows if you are truly Born Again (saved) But baptism by water is not necessary for your salvation. God speaking in Luke 3:16-17 tells us:
"John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
Water baptism has nothing to do with becoming Saved. Baptism was an outward sign (ceremonial Law) that God had instituted for the local New Testament congregations. This was to show us a representation of how water (either by sprinkling or pouring on, or by being immersed in) washes away the filth of our flesh (our sins). In the eyes of God for one of us to be clean, it is He (and He alone) which applies the Water of the Gospel to us. And thus, washes away the sins of that individual. The act of water baptism has no spiritual impact on any person.
You could baptize all day and all night and there is no guarantee that anyone of those whom you baptized were saved. Christ was baptized in water and so was I, but it plays no part in anyone's salvation.

Indeed when you get baptized you will be happier because that would be a manifestation that you really experienced Christ's love.. but then, baptism don't save. it goes like this.. baptism is the first step of following God. it means that you should accept Jesus Christ first as your personal Saviour and be saved BEFORE you decide to follow the water baptism..
just like in marriage (biblical marriage that is) a couple will get married not to love each other but because they loved each other and they want to proclaim to all the world that they love each other.. the same thing in baptism.. we don't get baptized to be saved but because we were already saved and we want to proclaim to all the world that we accepted Jesus Christ already.. we get baptized because we're following Jesus Christ's example.. he too got baptized isn't he???

The bible is very straight about baptism but you must be baptized in Jesus name according to the book of Acts ( Acts 2:38). When we are baptized we are buried with him. Repentance representing the death of our will, Burial representing the washing away or burying of our sins, and receiving the power of the Holy Ghost is what is going to resurrect you off this Earth. We must experience the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ before we can be saved.

Salvation is not based own what you have done and it not based on being water baptized. Salvation is about what you believe. If you have believed that the Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins and know that He took your sins away and He rose again the third day for your justification then you have the promise of God that you are going into His heaven. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Baptism is a covenant with Christ to follow Him. It doesn't save you on its own. You have to KEEP the covenant, live a righteous life, do good works, etc. in order to be saved. If you are baptized and don't live up to it, it does you no good. Also, you must be baptized by the property authority (Priesthood) and in the proper manner (immersion) and when you are old enough to know what it means and make the choice (not an infant). As Christ said, there is ONE (proper) BAPTISM. He showed us the way with his own baptism.

Salvation is different from being baptized. The way I understand it, you are saved when you accept Jesus Christ and your Lord and Savior. Baptism is more of an "outward expression of an inward change." Baptism just shows that you've changed inside. It doesn't necessarily DO anything, but you are showing your obedience to what the Bible tells us to do.

Baptism does not save you. Your confession of Jesus as your Lord brings you salvation.
Romans 10:9 "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation".

Baptism is not salvation, it is a symbol of the death, burial and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. However, salvation takes place, when a person asks God for forgiveness of sins and ask Jesus to come into their life. It is something that you have to be sure of and know, it is not a feeling but an assurance. But you have to know your experience and joy.
