He has lots of chew toys but always wants to bite my hands and feet. Is there sometype of punishment that we can do to him to get him to stop being so agressive with his nipping? i think he is almost done with teething but is still nipping.

It sounds like you have a puppy. The best thing to do is yell like you're in immense pain when he mouths you and refuse to pay him any attention. He will quickly figure out that he gets no attention when he nips.

If he was taken away from his littermates too soon he might not have proper bite inhibition. It's definitely something you'll have to work on!

Perhaps you should have stated puppy.

1. Analyze the problem. Your dog does not have a thumb, and the only thing he/she can use to 'grab stuff' is his mouth. When he/she is mouthing (probably not nipping) you, he/she is trying to get your attention.

**There is one other way he knows how to grab stuff (but that is a different lesson altogether.... how old are you???)

2. Redirect the behavior. Punnishing your dog for doing something he DOES NOT KNOW is wrong is abuse. However subtle, a punnishment for an uknown sin can create serious problems in the dog. You must show your dog something else to do with his mouth (try a ball on a string) and show him that is the best way to get your attention. If he bites you, you can go "uh uh" and withold the reward "the ball on a string."

** Some trainers dislike tug games because it will build dominant behavior in the dog. So you can play and wrestle while he has the ball in his mouth, and immediately stop when he drops it. I prefer tug..... but I like a tougher dog than the average cat.

Of all we read when we got our puppy this is what made the most sense:
Puppies learn how to play if they stay with their litter. If they bite too hard the mother or littermate will yelp and this will teach them to control the pressure.... So basically when your dog bites you yell "OWWWW". This worked really good with our puppy, now even if he's playing rough with his toys he can usually tell when its our hands and he will just pretend bite.
Another thing you can do if you don't have long fingernails is put your finger down his throat to gag him a little This will teach him it's not a pleasant experience to bite YOU.

Some puppies will on no account be trustworthy round youngsters. Some puppies don't respect them as humans but and suppose they're small animals. And huskies are infamous for his or her prime prey force. Once they toddlers are a distinctive age the puppy will respect them as a human and will probably be good enough. This age is distinct with each and every puppy. Sometimes baby, regularly five years ancient, regularly even older. NEVER permit this puppy close your child once more. Even for those who attempt to right the habits you are going to on no account be capable to believe this puppy and sever damage or dying to your little one is just a few seconds away.
