You don't have to say anything to activate a credit card. You just press touch tones. For security purposes this call must be made from the home phone registered to the account.

Activating the card doesn't require speaking to anyone. The credit card company's computer recognizes the phone you're calling from when you call to activate. You key in your ss# or some other identifying information and you're done. I've never had to speak with anyone to activate the card. You just have to call from the phone number you supplied on the credit application so their system recognizes that it is you. I don't think it is even possible to do it online. It is a security measure so that someone doesn't steal your credit card from your mailbox before you get it and activate it themselves. If they can't get inside your house to use your phone, they cannot activate it.

When you call to activate the card, you don't have to talk to anyone; the system is completely automated. Just follow the directions the recording says; simply enter the number of the card and the security codes and you are all set.

There should be a website on the back of the card or on a removable sticker on the card. You can activate it on that website.
