I have been with my boyfriend for three years. All of our friends know each other. Well my best friend is dating a friend(Aric) of my b/f. I am always hanging out with Aric and we are very close friends. My friend is jealous of how close we are and is trying to get my b/f where he is jealous too. Does she have a reason?? Should I not be friends with the guy b/c she's dating him??
When I was hurt and d.q. during my gymnastics meet(which neither my bff or b/f could attend b/c of something else with school), Aric came up to me in the hall where me and my friend were crying and held me in his arms and said everything will be ok.
Is this too close for friends to be??
I think his friend(aric) is cute but I love my b/f. Aric is the same way. Should I stop being his friend b/c of my other friend??

Should my friend be jealous of the fact that he will come up behind me and put his arms around me or give me a hug when I am feeling down??

This is something that comes up in every ones life at least once and if you don't know where the "line" is the chances you will repeat are great.
See if the library has "Not Just Friends" by Shirley Glass, PhD and check it out (it is also available on the Internet for under 15 bucks including shipping). This book is an easy read and I personally think it should be required high school reading because the divorce rate in the USA is at 50%. Every relationship between any two people is very similar to a marriage in trust and feelings.
The book outlines three way relationships and offers not only cures from the hurt this causes it relates those things we can do to not cause this in our lives. There is always a smidgen of jealousy which is healthy, it is our early warning sign that something isn't right and may need a second look. Obsessive jealousy without cause is not healthy.
After you have read it pass it on to your friend or share with her what fits your particular situation while you are reading it.

I think you can be friends with whoever you want, however I would make sure you are spending more time with your best friend, than her boyfriend (Aric). She must be feeling insecure about your relationship with Aric and I would try to put myself in her place to see how you might feel if things were reversed and she was really good friends with your boyfriend and hung out with him all the time. R u sure it's just friendship and not a thing between the 2 of u? No judgement, just something to think about. Good Luck:)

Ash: Be friendly still, with him but don't spend tons of time with him. You are tied down to your guy of 3 yrs., and therefore, feel a commitment towards him. If you were playing the field, Aric may want to date you. Since you are going strong with your b/f, I would suggest keep space from Aric and keep both, your friend, your b/f, Aric and YOURSELF happy. You will start a war if you start to get it on with Aric ... it's not worth it, as you decide to go steady with your b/f and therefore, you have made a commitment ! Ash; I've been through similar situations and could have kicked myself for allowing myself to be tied down to my g/f of then. Your reputation isn't worth the hassle from moving in on your friend's guy ... she will hate you for it ! ( Your b/f will fight you too and Aric - not worth - think about it .

No, it's not wrong. You've a beautiful friendship it seems (with Aric). Don't lose that, it's rare.
Are you sure your other friend (his girlfriend) is your true friend, though? Trying to make your boyfriend to be jelaous doesn't sound like an act of a true friend.

Yes, I'm doing it now ^^ But it wasn't because I was totally rejected...it was more a matter of how much more I could take before I had enough =/

Yes, just a little to close. It is ok to be friends but it sounds like he is a little more friendly than you. Run away, fast. Before you lose your guy.

nope, get and keep as many friends as you can, if or when you get with one, if the other ones love you , they might be very jealous but would understand and be happy for you being happy.
keep friends, you might need them someday

nope - he can be your brother - and hugs are allowed - b/c that's
what they are *hugs* - nothing more - he's just being kind -
like a bro would be - since your bf and best fr were not available
just don't let it go further than that - and you are ok
and very lucky!
Merry Christmas (*hug*)
