i just took him to the vet yesterday and he had ear mites, which the vet took care of. He also has diarrhea which he has medicine for. I try pulling a string for him - he's not interested. I pick him up, sometimes he squirms and keeps meowing; other times it does make him quiet. I've had cats my whole life and this has never happened. Everyone keeps saying, "He's just a baby, he needs to get used to his new home." (I just got him on Friday the 8th.) He seems very happy otherwise - always purring and LOVES to cuddle. It's just driving me and my husband nuts! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

I think his little body just has a lot to handle right now with the shot, the diarrhea, and the medicine to help with that. He probably is just feeling punk and being a baby he can't quite handle it. He would probably just like to return to his mommy and suckle some warm milk right now. That isn't possible so he will just have to pull out of it. When his diarrhea stops and the mites stop bothering him he will feel much better.
I can understand why he is not wanting to play right now so don't force that issue. As with a sick child, you give it its medicine and love it and hope it is feeling better real soon.

I think maybe he misses his Mommy and litter mates. It could take a little while longer, is there a chance you could get another kitten for company? Maybe another kitten from someone else if not a litter mate? Or try feeding the kitten by hand with a dropper and some water down milk or kitty milk from the pet store. By going back to the early kitten days it will start to make the kitten think your it's mother and get over feeling lonely.

I'm sure your going to hear this from EVERYONE, but he misses his mommie. He shows signs of this by the cuddling and purring. He likes it when you pick him up sometimes cause he is trying to adjust to you being the new mommie. Then sometimes he realizes your not mommie.... Some kittens take longer than others to adjust. Give it time. Until then, hang in there. Good luck!
Oh, is he eating alright?? if not, try buying kitty milk at walmart and feed it to him in a saucer or a little kitty bottle. Have fun.

If he came from a family with siblings, he's used to being close to them. He may just be lonely and frightened. Some cats are like that. I have a pair of cats who are siblings that I found in a ditch nearly starving and they were inseperable when they were small. They don't mind being in separate rooms now, but not for long. The will cry for each other if apart too long. If all the medical problems are taken care of, it's probably loneliness.

If I were you, I'd try a heating pad or a warm water bottle for the kitty to curl up with. When you add being seperated from its mom, with an obvious tummy problem, it's probably just miserable. Not only will the water bottle (wrapped in a towel) give it that sense of being with mom, but warmth can also soothe a sore tummy. Best of luck!

Maybe she misses her mommy and her siblings. Try cuddling her as much as you can and set up a box for her with some cozy blankets or towels and something with your scent.. a tshirt or something.. and a windup clock that she can hear tick... that will probably soothe her. Maybe shes just a bit needy right now. A trip to the vet to make sure shes healthy is also a good idea.

The cat needs some love and attintion. Most kittens are scared at first but they soon become to love there owners when they give them lots of attention and love

i have 3 cats and boy i know what you are going through!... you might want to consider getting another kitty.. i had to do this with my cat...she was so loud and did it all through the night...i got another kitten. and she stopped.. there is a lot of wrestling going on.. good luck
