How do you say "congratulations" in Spanish? I have been told BOTH "felicidades" and "felicitaciones." And I do not know which one is correct.
We are holding a baby shower and we are getting a cake and it needs to say congratulations in Spanish. Which word would be the correct one to use for this occassion? Gracias mis amigos!

I'm a native speaker and I can tell you they mean exactly the same. I think in some Spanish speaking countries they use "felicidades" and in others they use "felicitaciones". If the person getting the cake is from Mexico, I would recommend using "felicidades", since it's the one we use in Mexico.

The right way to say is "Felicitaciones". Another manner, in a very formal way would be "parabienes".

They are different things.
Felicidades is the quality of happy.
Felicitaciones is the desire of which somebody is happy by a good action.
Felicidades when the action is in affective person
Felicitaciones - good moment, luck or other things
