Apologies for the entry on this thread - not sure where best to put it.

As far as I can make out it is occupied land that has given it this name..... shouldnt news reports etc more properly refer to it under its proper Country name. Does Arabian media call it by a different term ?. Curious.

(this is NOT meant to be contentious - please try to keep the Western/Arabian issue as a secondary comment if made at all ! )

Yes it is part of palestine, but because it is seperated by Isreali territory, it is refered to as 'the gaza strip', and the rest of palestinian land is called 'the west bank'. In the media this name is just used to be more specfic about where a certain event occured, like 'there was flooding in perth' is just giving u more details about where in scotland this flooding occured, its not a political thing at all.

From someone who has been around a long time.
Israel occupied that land for 2,000 years before they were taken captive by Assyria and Babylon.

In 1948 it was the U.N. that gave them the land back, except a part of the land that they occupied for 2,000 years was given to Jordon.

During the 2,000 years, the Gaza Strip was known as Philistia.
The Philistines battled continuously with Israel.
Seems that no one has ever like the Jews, for the same reason that many don't like the Christians. It is their God who is also the Christians God.

However, during the age fo the Patriarchs, the nations around Israel could see that God was with the Israelites.

Maybe it is partly because many of these nations worshiped multiple gods that Israel rejected.

The Gaza strip and the Golan heights are both areas which I think Israel occupied and took away from the Palestinians. It is not fair and should be given back as soon as possible. Then the palastinians will be able to setlle back on their lands.

"How do you go about your lives having to rigidity about israel (for no good reason) and each and each and every of the hatred adversarial to you for purely being jews." So what are you preserving? That because Israel exists that directs anti semitism in the route of Jews and Israel? if so, thanks for admitting that anti Israel or anti Zionism is many circumstances a manifestation of anti semitism. And the question is WHY would you no longer argue the "Palestine u . s . element" the following? because the reality is that Israel exists and Palestine does no longer at this aspect in time. Now you received't like that situation, because it sparkling from what you write, even with the undeniable fact that it truly is somewhat telling that you turn that displeasure into an truly fantasy that Israel does no longer exist. In different words, its in problem-free words on your concepts.

With this thinking I guess Texas, Arizona, California, and a bunch of southwest America belongs to Mexico. Wait, no this should belong to American Indians. They were here first. Oh... by the way.....how come we don't have the same outrage over the Kurds. When the new provinces were drawn up Kurdistan was left out. The Kurds woke up one morning and were part of Iraq, and we know what happened to them under Saddam. But we here no outrage about a homeland for the Kurds.
