I have black hair and I want to lighten it?

My hair is naturally dirty blonde and I've been dying it black for 2 years now. I want it to be a light brown. I know that I could bleach it, but I was looking for a different solution. I don't know anything about toners or color stripping, so any infomation about those would be appreciated! I was also thinking about just putting highlights in my hair, if it's less damaging? Please let me know what you know!

is u want to lighten it then apply 6% hydrogen peroxide.

The besst thing you could do for yourself is a dye job. Highlights on people with very dark hair look tacky and usually untasteful if you want to go noticeably lighter. If you give your self a dye job or tone your hair, you'll get the lighter effect, and it will look natural as well. Bleach is only used in drastically lighter colors, and probably will do nothing but damage your hair, and turn the color you have now into a rather terrible color that you'll spend plenty of money on getting corrected.

i have dirty blonde hair naturally too and i just dyed it a light brown but i did it to get rid of my blonde highlights. I know its expensive but since you've been dying it black you should really go have it professionally lightened. I tried to dye my hair lighter and it turned orange and i had to pay more than i intended to fix it. believe me 75 dollars is better than frying your hair. box dye is really harsh on your hair. after the first time you can start doing it on your own. I used nice and easy it natural medium brown like 117 and it looks great good luck.

Yeah highlights totally work. I have naturally a really dark brown hair color and when I got highlights it looked really good and should on you too! Good luck!

Well just get you hair died brown and then put some blond highlights in it and I'm sure you'll love it.
