Can emotions be trusted when you are deciding whether or not to be with someone...or should you rely on your rationality? What if a person is rationally right for you but you don't have any feelings for him? What about the women who say they love a man when he beats her...is that trusting your emotions? Do you believe in the saying "trust you heart"? The heart is the main source of emotions...but is it misleading at times?

Mostly people trust their instincts because of the things that are going on the world, if you feel you can trust the person and the feelings and emotions are genuine from your point of view then there you go. Women who say they still love the men that always beat them when the guy gets home is afraid to leave the husband because they are afraid to seek help and that the husband will haunt them, women who want out should trust their instincts to get out when they can before they wind up in a body bag, most women only thing the few things they do will help but only fuels the fire. If you arent sure about something and your heart is telling you not to do it it might be right, it also depends on your situation and what you are dealing with so it could be both, just have decide for yourself what is right and what is wrong since you know the basic concept of it.

first, if somebody is beating you:physically -get away from him and maybe send him to jail, emotionally- then just get away from him

I use emotions to guage the possibilities, rationality as a sort of gate to catch myself. I'm very clear about what gates are there and what it would take to open each of them. It keeps me safe and sane. A handwritten letter is usually one of the first things. I would have said a phone call would do but I hate cell phones enough to say it wouldn't count for much.

The Bible says, "The heart is more deceitful than all else, who can understand it?"
Jeremiah 17:9

Here is the saying that I believe in , "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not unto your own understand, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He (God) will direct your path.

God knows your past and your future it is better to trust in Him than in yourself and your intuition. At best you'd be guessing and life is way too important to leave it to chance.

Yup - but you have to be discerning too, at times. Check with your head when you are more sober, rational

Emotions are something you react to.
How you decide to react to them is a decision one chooses.

Intuition is what one should base their decision on.
