This is a good question. Jesus also said that we would always have poor people. However, I think it is the job of those who are more fortunate to do what they can to help those less fortunate. We need more rich people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who have started charities to help people. I know there are others who have done similar things. I think helping others without any expectation of conversion to Christianity is a duty of all Christians.

He gives seed to the sower who then sows the seed to reap a harvest ....

The two commandments that are most important are
Love God with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

If God has given so many of us provisions then we should listen to him to "feed his sheep". The scriptures also state that the poor would be with us always. God gives to us who have, to help those who don't have. Since He is the source and everything belongs to him, the question is what do we do with what He has given us? Do we show how much we love him by giving to those who don't have, or do we constantly complain about what we don't have? There is an old saying (not biblical) that says that one can't receive anything by keeping one's hand shut.
We as believers should be givers if the one who owns everything supplies us, He will make sure that we always have enough seed for our house as well as enough to give away. Jesus stated in the bible that because the people, didn't feed or clothe the poor, visit the sick or the people in jail, they didn't do those things for Him. They exist and children die so that our actions can show to God and Jesus how much we love Him.

Seems to me that if we all followed that "Love one another as I have loved you" thing, we would be taking care of one another as brothers and sisters. Jesus meant for us to get up off our backsides and take some action. Children starve because nobody feeds them. God does provide. He's counting on me and you.

I don't know of all the children, but I know of one baby dying even though Jesus did put someone here to help provide. The mom took the formula and sold it for drug money.

They are starving because so many haven't listened to what God has been telling them. It is criminal, a constant mirror before our face of our gluttony of goods.
BUT
there is more than one inning in the game.
