Banning Pit Bulls would be like banning cars because people get killed in car accidents! Who's responsible, the car or the driver/manufacturer? Any car can be deadly in the wrong hands or if built with defective parts. Same thing with dogs... Any dog. Pit Bulls are no more responsible for the way they are bred, raised and trained, than cars are responsible for the way they are designed, built and driven.
Simply put, the best argument against breed bans is that they are costly and ineffective. Breed bans are often a knee-jerk reaction from politicians who want to say they are "doing something", after a highly publicized dog attack (of any breed). This is a useless exercise.
Criminals habitually break laws, so having an "illegal breed" may indeed be attractive to them and might make them want to breed and sell more "illegal dogs". If their dog is confiscated and killed, they really don't care. They will just get another one because breed bans punish the dog, not the owner.
In 1991 when the United Kingdom banned pit bulls it was found that even after the pit bull population steeply declined, the number dog bite incidents remained the same. Why? The number of irresponsible dog owners stayed the same. The fact is that dog bites rarely happen randomly to people walking down the street. Most dog bites (77 percent) happen to a family member or a friend. The majority of bites are perpetrated by un-neutered male dogs.
People in this country wants the government to be responable for their actions. So when you give up that much control to the government they will slowly eat away at the rights we hold dear. Make people responable for thier actions and stop asking the goverment to do it. Banning dogs is giving up to the government

Well about the test scores. I'm sure that those scores are true. But do you think the pitbulls that are raised in horrible conditions in a suburb of Los Angeles participated in the testing? I doubt it.
My aunt and uncle, and my cousins live in Ontario, Canada and they have banned the breading of pitbulls in the entire province. They are basically trying to kill off the animal. People who have a pitbull in the province can only take it for a walk with a muzzle on it or they can actually be arrested and apparently they have to have a "Beware of Dog" sign on the house.
My old neighbors who used to live behind me, had two pitbulls. We only have a small mesh fence, and when they let the dogs out I went inside the house. I didn't feel safe around them. The dogs would always fight with each other and bark, but the owners where not the best type of people to own a dog, and that's the two dogs where as violent as most people think Pitbull are. So I think it depends on how the dogs are raised, but unfortunately many violent people get pitbulls, and the dogs become violent as well.
If you had a young child, what type of dog would you rather leave in a room with it? A Golden Retriever or a Pitbull?
NOTE:
This is just my opinion on the matter. I never said all pitbulls are violent ... I'm saying that some of the owners of pitbulls are violent which can cause a dog to be violent. But that's the same with any dog, not just pitbulls. But like I said, many violent people tend to get pitbulls because of that misconception that every single one of them are bad or "attack dogs".

I agree to a certain extent. We have had instances here in south Florida where in the rural communities people let the dogs run free and the dogs form packs. Women go jogging in the morning and they get chased down and mauled. I have seen dogs run about with each other, but the violent gang leader always seems to be the pit bull, and the other dogs follow suit. Sad but true. I love dogs, but I would never own a pit bull because I have worked hard all my life for my retirment and I don't wanna get sued and lose it all over a violent beast. I never put an animal over a human being.

Unfortunatly, you in all probability ought to have checked with the owner first. i'm in entire settlement approximately pitbull nature yet particularly anybody understand that those are in simple terms approximately continually on a limited breed checklist. Legally, I doubt you have a recourse to maintain the dogs there. So i think of your ideas are gonna be circulate or locate yet another abode for the domestic dog. If I have been you, i could do something i ought to to locate a sparkling place of abode that help you shop the dogs. perhaps you have a chum or kinfolk member that would help look after it til you detect someplace? there's no longer something the owner can do approximately her assurance corporation. they have rules to stay with and have confidence me won't make any exceptions for canines. dogs bites are between the utmost hazards for companies. I wouldnt waste my time scuffling with and placed my capacity into looking a sparkling place. EDIT - you are able to no longer upload your landlord on your coverage, it relatively is in simple terms no longer how that works. i'm sorry yet i think of you're looking in the incorrect direction for a answer.

Thank you!!! I do not agree with eradicating any breed. Part of the problem is the physical characterisics of the group of dogs called Pit Bulls. They are physically more capable of doing damage IF they choose to bite. Smaller dogs are more likely to bite but you don't hear about the killer Chihuahua on the news!!
I have a problem with people who do not consider temperment when they breed. Temperment is a trait that is passed on to offspring just like coat or eye color. Backyard breeders see a "pretty" dog and breed it regardless of the attitude of the dog.
I am a vet tech by trade and I have been bitten by far more small dogs. Just for the record, I have NEVER been bitten by a Pit Bull. In my experience, they are much more likely to roll over for a belly rub than they are to bite. Thanks so much for caring about this wonderful group of dogs. Let's keep getting the word out there about temperment and how much more important it is than the NAME OF THE BREED!!!

I think that the government in places need to stop putting forth all of this effort to ban pits, and put it toward getting rid of the dogfighting that gives the sweet pits a bad name.
Also, I have worked a a vet clinic for many years now and have never once been bit by a large dog, nor have I seen a mean pit bull. I have been bit many times by small dogs, two of the times I actually needed stitches on my fingers and hands.

I think Pitbulls are very good dogs. I have a Rott, and grew up with Rotts and German Shepards along with Dobermens. They are all the best dogs ever. You can train any dog to be anything. My rott loves everyone and everything, even my two cats. Its stupid people in this world, that makes these dogs seem bad. And then the world takes it out on the poor dogs.

Pit bulls are very good dogs. People fear them because people train them to be mean and let them go on society. What people don't relize is that little dogs attack just as much as a big dog. It doesn't make it to the news. Pit bulls by nature are very people friendly dogs and protective. They are not mean unless people miss treat them and teach them to be mean. Pit bulls by nature do not get along with other dogs and this has to do with people breeding them to be dog agressive. Hate the deed not the breed.
