I have been with my boyfriend for three years. All of our friends know each other. Well my best friend is dating a friend(Aric) of my b/f. I am always hanging out with Aric and we are very close friends. My friend is jealous of how close we are and is trying to get my b/f where he is jealous too. Does she have a reason?? Should I not be friends with the guy b/c she's dating him??

When I was hurt and d.q. during my gymnastics meet, Aric came up to me in the hall where me and my friend were crying and held me in his arms and said everything will be ok.

Is this too close for friends to be??

You have good relationships and bad relationships. Jealousy can ruin the best of relationships.

I think she has a right to be concerned. Any woman will be threatened by another woman getting too close to their man. Talk to your friend and let her know how you feel. Try to go out with Aric only when your best friend is around. This way, she wont be left out and will be more comfortable. If you are friends with both of them then it shouldn't be a problem with hanging out with both of them at the same time.

Well, she has a reason to be jealous. If you and Aric are close enough, to where it bothers your friend, she should just tell you she's uncomfortable with how close you are. But you can most definitely stay friends with him, just maybe, she doesn't like how close you are. I have a friend I'm close with, and i think i make his g/f uncomfortable, so i back off a little. So just try not to be so close to where she gets jealous. :)

Some people can be jealous of their friend because of the person that have a crush on wish they had, if it is interferring with your friendship then you need to tell you friend that you sense jealousy in her and want to know what is up, it is really on how you see it, you make the final decision on what you do with your boyfriend and what friends you have and choose to hang around, Be kind to her and let her know that she is stepping dangerous ground, but you want to be friends with her if she will back off. It does not sound like she has a reason, but you never know. If she can't understand what you have to say and accept it then it might not be a good idea to be friends with her if you think she is going to cause trouble. That is one less thing you need not worry about.

Just tell your friend that she needs to be more mature and explain that you guys are just cool. Also, it wont hurt to sit your boyfriend aside and tell him that your concerned about her jealousy and that she's over reacting. Reassure him that you don't have an attraction of his friend by telling him, then screwing him like crazy. He'll take the hint.

Her jealousy comes from fear of losing him. Remind her that you also have a boyfriend and are not looking for another one. That's all I can think of to try.
