Yes, just like chickens, any female bird will lay unfertilized eggs. Most female cockatiels aren't very vocal and don't sing a lot. Males, even young ones that look a lot like females sing all the darn time which is why I no longer have any. I gave mine to a lady who breeds them so they are happier now.

Well you wouldn't be on the fence so to speak, if the bird did lay an egg, smiles.
I have a Lory Female who never laid an egg in all her 10 or 11 years until a couple months ago, and she suffered through it.
It's a natural process.
If this is just a rhetorical Q then it will hardly matter.
The issue with regard to the health of a female bird however is in becoming "Egg Bound" and in my experiences they usually lay 2.
Certainly without a male, the egg wouldn't be fertile, but the female isn't considering that in the process, and may even "nest it" and "sit it"
You also neglected to say if you offer NEST to your bird, and/or if you've ever had the bird sexed.

BTW, some varieties of Cockatiel, as with many other bird species very clearly define the gender difference in plumage and coloration.

All birds will lay eggs without a male present. Just like most other animals, they still produce eggs on a regular basis. The eggs will just not be fertilized without the male.

Sweetie,if it is indeed a female, yes she will.As you stated above, and you are correct about that,in the fact that it would not hatch.A hen(chicken) will lay and egg without a male( a rooster),it simply wont hatch she will still lay an egg tho.Have a good night hun.Good luck.

yes female birds can and do lay unfertilised eggs without males around. they ovulate just like we do whether there's a male around or not. only difference is we retain and incubate our egg when its fertilised (for which we need a male lol) until its ready to hatch, birds don't - once fertilised internally (by a male), they lay, incubate and hatch them outside the body. lucky birds lol

It's normal- u can slow her down (since you don't want egg binding to happen to her and your not breeding her).
Always take the egg away- eliminate any toys that look like a cozy nesting area- dont rub her on her back or tail- if u need help with the gender feel free to email me or go to cockatiels.org
