Call your local Walmart or Target and ask how much it would be for generic synthroid. You just might be able to swing it.

Anyway, generic replacement hormone for me costs less than $25. Walmart has it on the $4 list.

This is a medication that you discontinue at your peril. Surely you know that the thyroid interacts with every system in the body. Further, there is no herbal, alternative or other substitute for thyroid medication. I appreciate your position because drugs are not cheap, but there are generics that work fine for thyroid (that's what I'm on). My advice: see a doc, get your prescription renewed, get back on track. You may need to be re-tested. Look into county or state programs that help jobless or low-income people with medical costs. This is a matter you really need to address ASAP.

You need to take synthroid. I don't have a thyroid either and am very familiar with it. Don't go without it any longer. If you need it contact me and I can give you a line on where to buy it but get some and stay on it. Otherwise you will do serious harm to yourself.

how are you even able to function? if my husband misses more than 2 or 3 days, he gets so depressed and can barely get out of bed. you might see if there is a free or low cost clinic to help you- maybe you can get your prescription filled at low cost because synthroid has been around for a while

I have thyroid disease also, I am a person who also, doesn't have medical insurance. I was able to find a free clinic in my area that provides me with a prescription to take to an area hospital to get my medicine for $5.00 until I am able to get health care coverage. So, Please don't continue to go without your medicine it is important that you take it everyday. Talk with someone who might be able to help you. Thyroid Disease is serious you will start to experience depression, hair loss, hoarse voice, dry skin, and protruding pupils.
