Why do I get the feeling you are a whitey trying to egg on the bigots? Could it be the perfect English in your question, showing you have no need for Spanish street signs?
Cost. I damn sure don't want my tax dollars going into bi lingual traffic signs, costing twice the price, for am immigrant too "whatever" to learn the language - or the international symbols. If I went to a Spanish language country, I would not think of being egotistical enough to think the street signs should also speak English.

You mean in the US? For the same reason they are not in English in Mexico, Spain and every other Spanish Speaking country. However... the street signs should be so universal that they shouldn´t need words... Europe has done that quite well.

Because even though America has been invaded by Spanish speaking immigrants,The universal Language of America is "English".That would be a small bit of an in incovience to Puertoricans who are legal citizens as Puerto Rico is a US Providence but, most are smart and proud enough to learn English.

In the United States? We could get the universal signs that some countries use.. you know the kind..pictures.
Hun, this is American, learn the language. I would fully expect to know at least enough to know what the signs mean, if I were in another country. Having some basic concept of the language is always vital!
here, we speak, and read English. Sorry.

I keep seeing people post that there are no dumb questions or dumb answers...well, I don't know how to type anything that translates as whatever that noise Carlos Mencia makes is...but try I shall. DUN,DUH,DAAAAAHHHHH, this one is for you
AMERICA BABY!!!!!!.....LOVE IT OR leave quielly.
Seriously, I think you only asked this question to piss people off, I don't believe for one second that you, or anyone else is actually so ignorant as to believe the United States should or would post speed signs in multiple languages, so, are you happy now? You managed to get me to lower my own standards and respond initially like most others did to your "question". The citzens of this country(the United States) may be complacent and self absorbed, but we are sick of apologizing to the rest of the world for being better at EVERYTHING than the rest of you are. If the rest of the world thinks it is so great, so smart, then why did so many of your best and brightest opt to come here, learn the language, and the culture, and escape your wonderful countries?

Because most Americans would not be able to read them. Besides if the government started posting signs in Spanish with TAX PAYER'S money, there would be a revolt heard around the world. If you want to speak Spanish so bad, go to Mexico. There are probably a few left there you can still have a conversation with.

Because the primary language and common language to Americans is English. I lived in Japan and had a Japanese driver's license. I had to learn the signs in Japanese because I was a guest there. Immigrants/Residents to this country need to do the same. These demands on this country are getting ridiculous.

They are in Mexico, a couple of countries in South America, and in Spain. This is the USA where English is the Dominate language, which BTW is a Universal Language of the world.

As America actually has no official language, they can actually make the signs any language they want. You'll still be expected to know what they mean.
