I know that in my dojo, if you smile after you walk in the door, you are flogged with cats until you no longer have any urge to laugh or smile. In the junior classes there a clown that is always doing tricks in order to make the children smile, the first three months is almst constand beatings for them. In the advanced classes we rotate standup comedians on a bi weekly basis, although for smiling the beatings are more intense than in the junior class, cats are far too small, so we get smacked around with dogs, only medium sized dogs though, like border collies. Laughing out loud results in being hung in place of the punching bag and the entire class rotating and doing ten second intervals of power punching for the rest of the class.

A sense of humour is critical to being a human being, in class and in life in general i make jokes and am a very relaxed person, the only times i find myself schooled for seriousness are in competition, where humour can be a bad distraction, so i focus myself for that task, after i have walked off the mat my humour returns with my smile, whether i won or lost, even if i am injured. It's just insanity not to have a sense of humour, i don't find myself trusting people without it. I damn near force serious people to laugh, if you are near me you must smile, it's a code of ethics that everyone must follow. or else.

Yep, there are a lot of folks with no sense of humor and even more folks that get their p@nties in a ruffle when somethings aren't answered just right. Oh well it's all fun, and there is actually some good information. I've read some of your posts and don't have a problem with them. For the most part they aren't warm fuzzy but this is basically a forum so it doesn't really matter.

"We at the FBI have no sense of humor we are aware of" (or words to that effect) MIB

People take pride in their martial arts and get defensive. We all do it at times. You have to have a sense of humor to read some of the questions and answers without going mad.

I say you need to replace your experience of humor with a farting noise. you received't get laughs perpetually yet you receives laughs each from time to time...that's more beneficial than many human beings can say.

I don't trust any one who lacks a sense of humor. If you don't know what's funny, you can't possibly know what is serious.
