Hello; Registered Nurse here; Well Here's the honest truth, who knows. I would lean more towards allergies, since your allergic to dust, and it is an irritant--you stirred up dust about 48 hours or so ago. No fever, you didn't mention sore throat, nor achy feeling, all symptoms that usually come with a cold. My best educated guess at this point from what you have shared, I would say allergies. Might want to take a benedryl, 25mg or 50mg. Hot tea especially the mint flavored is very good for clearing nasal passages. Also if you have any Vick's Vapor Rub on hand, allergies as with colds, make breathing difficult. Also, try running your laboratory in bathroom full of hot water. Put a towel over your head and lean down and breath the steam, this also helps to relieve congestion, plus it sort of soothes the throat and nasal passages. Hope your feeling better soon. Merry Christmas

some cold occur without fever, but if you have history of allergies maybe you will try take medicine for allergies by the way too works in cold and flu without fever, clarityne -D 12 hours 1 tablet two times per day work ok, also some rubitussin DM 10 ml each 6 hours, but if your allergies o symptoms are intensive maybe need medicine like solumedrol o prednisolone (steroids).

allergy attacks usually won't keep you congested for a long time, but in spurts when you are having an attack. try an allergy relieving medication and see if it helps, but if you have been congested since yesterday it sounds like a cold.
