Hi. I'm 13 years old. In the 7th grade, after I switched to boxers, I noticed that my testicles started to change in weird ways. Half of them were of a darker color, yet another half were a normal, peach skin color. However, the hair on the peach area is white, while the hair on the darker part is black. My natural hair color is black. I also have two or so lighter spots about the size of a penny on the underside of the dark part. The testicles also itch from time to time, but not often. It's been like this for less than a year now. I'm really scared, but I don't want to have a doctor caress my testicles. Does anyone know what could be happening to me?

After I switched to boxers, my testicles were rubbing up against my right leg and getting sore. After a while, I stopped noticing the irritation. However, that was when all my problems started. However, I have gone through a hormone super-wave recently. My voice has dropped, I have gained hair under my armpits, my penis is larger, and I have gained pubic hair above my penis. So, I can't differentiate between anything.

Looks like a few things all happening at once and collectively they are causing you some problems and concerns.

The biggie of course is you are in the midst of puberty when the body changes in all sorts of ways and never in any kind of rational pattern. Not only will you grow hair in all the 'manly' places (face, armpits, scrotum, lower abdomen, etc.), it will develop in one area, then another and the order for you will differ from the order for your friends. Additionally, most guys actually have light hair at first which darkens to their normal colour but again it may get darker on your scrotum before your armpits or vice versa. Again no set order.

As well, when you go through puberty, the skin on your scrotum and penis shaft will darken. This is normal adult pigmentation of the skin for this area and it may be blotchy at first but it should even out after a while. And keep in mind your scrotum could wind up lighter or darker than your friends even if you are all the same basic skin colour.

Also as you have noticed, puberty has deepened your voice and enlarged your penis. As well it will enlarge your testicles and you will go through one or two major growth sputs that make you taller and generally bigger. Also of note, as puberty finishes up, you will have one hand and foot bigger than the other, one leg and arm longer than the other and one testicle bigger than the other. On the good side, these size differences are usually pretty minor and would only be noticed under careful examination.

Okay, on to factor number two. You changed to wearing boxers (from briefs I assume). The effect of course is that your genitals now hang down and dangle around instead of being held more tightly to yoru body. And in the process of doing their dangling, they will tend to rub against legs and each other more than when they were in the briefs. Thus the cause of your irritation. Of course as the scrotum gets used to being in contact with and rubbing against your legs, the irritation will subside.

As to the itching, that is probably in part from the testicles now dangling around and in part from the presence of hair tha tis now coarser and fuller than your former peach fuzz. Here too, the itch should pass as you finish puberty and your scrotum gets used to it's ability to dangle freely.

Other factors might be:
a) an allergic reaction to the fabric in the boxers. Check the label and compare to the briefs you used to wear. Usually 100% cotton is not a problem but when combined with nylon, polyester or other man-made material, there can be problems. If the boxers are of a different material than your briefs were, then you can change boxers, go back to the brierfs or just toss them all out and go commando (which is by far more comfortable anyway)..

b) an allergic reaction to a soap or other product that is making contact with your skin. This could be a change in the soap you are using to wash or a change in the laundry detergent or even the presence of the chemicals in a lot of those dryer type fabric softener sheets. Since your mother probably does the buying for those, check wityh her to see if she has changed bath soaps, laundry detergents or uses the dryer sheets. If she has just mention the new product is causing you a bad reaction and ask her to change back. No need to tell her exactly where you have the irritation though - hehe.

c) you may have a minor infection in your genital region. It could be viral or bacterial or other type causing the itch. Often they can be cleared up with meticulous hygiene (not something teens are notorious for - hehe). But by changing your cleaning habits, you may eliminate any minor surface infection and reduce the odds of getting one in the future. Your genital region should be thoroughly lathered daily then rinsed really well to remove all soap residue. In addition, after any sport or other activity where you get sweaty, wash and rinse thoroughly immediately after. Of course it doesn't hurt to wash and rinse the rest of you daily and after physical activity as well - hehe.

Okay all that said, I've probably covered most of the items you raised. By checking fabrics, improving yoru cleaning and other actions as well as lettign puberty run it's course, you should be fine.

However, you did raise one point you need to come to grips with. It affects a lot of guys as they go through the teens and 20's. It's called embarassment about anyone seeing your genitals. Plain simple facts:
a) Everyone (an I mean everyone - your parents, your firends, your teachers, people you know and people you will never know) knows you have a penis, a scrotum and two testicles.
b) Everyone knows what male genitals look like and by the time they are 20 or so, they also know what they feel like.
c) Doctors, nurses, police, prison guards, customs officers, airport security and a host of other people regularly see male genitals so yours would be just one more set to them.
d) Yes you might be a little different in size, hairiness, colour or what have you than other guys but we are all basically the same and it is the minor differences that make life interesting.

So, toss off your embarassment and your clothes and get yoru body to your doctor for a thorough physical examination. And repeat it once a year. And make darn sure he does feel your testicles and make you cough and examine every inch of you from head to toe. If he seems reluctant to be truly thorough, then insist he be. And as far as getting embarassed or even erect who cares. The doctor has seen lots of them hard too so yours isn't any big deal to him. Just consider you are normal and are there to make sure you are healthy and that you stay that way. And genital healthy is every bit as important as the rest of yoru body. After all, if your penis or testicles aren't healthy you sure aren't going to enjoy masturbation or sex now are you. So it is far better to have a doctor view and feel your testicles than lose the ability to masturbate.

You are growing up .
This is just a normal part of growing processs .
With so much activity going on in your body, it is common that some body parts may grow faster than others. Your arms and legs may grow longer and faster, causing your chest and waist to look too short. One side of your face may grow a little faster than the other. Your ears may look too large for your head. All these changes may cause you to feel clumsy but hang in there.
As mentioned before, HAIR starts growing on and around your body. Boys, no need to get scared; you're not going to turn into a big furball. It might feel a little more bushy or itchy than it did before, but nothing's going to kill you.

Getting extra hairs in the armpits, the legs and around the pubic areas also used to raise my eyebrows and made me go "What's going on?" But eventually, I got used to it and it didn't bother me anymore. You will too

it means GET YOUR DOG NEUTERED! The risk of cancer in dogs that are not neutered raises greatly and why would you want to take the chance of him dieing early from cancer. If you want to bred him, do it now then have him neutered. He will also pee less around your house and possible be less aggressive with other dogs. In the meantime, get him checked by a vet, this could be a skin infection, cancer, growths etc. You wont know until you have him checked.

Um....I think you should go to a doctor...I mean do you want your balls to fall off? I don't think having a doctor caressing your balls would be worse then losing them.

Could it be a S.T.D. or something? Or it might be that you're allergic to something in the boxers.
