My Monkey Bread
Ingredients
1 pk dry yeast
1/4 c warm water
1 c milk
1 c butter (do not use margarine)
1/2 c sugar
1/2 ts salt
2 eggs
3 c flour
Instructions
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Scald milk. Add 1/2 cup of butter and cool. Add yeast, sugar, salt, eggs and half of flour. Beat well with mixer. Add rest of flour and beat until it is mixed in. Cover with a damp towel and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 2 hours and 40 minutes before serving. Melt 1/2 cup butter in a regular-sized loaf pan. Drop batter in by spoonfuls and let rise for 2 hours. Bake at 375o for 40 minutes. Turn out of the loaf pan and slice. Do not freeze. May be made ahead and reheated while still in pan. Yield: 1 loaf.

MONKEY BREAD
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
2 sticks real butter
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 sm. can whole evaporated milk
3 1/2 c. plain flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water and let it set for about 5 minutes. Melt 1 stick of butter in a large bowl in the microwave. Stir in sugar, salt and milk until sugar dissolves. After the mixture has cooled to lukewarm, stir in the yeast mixture. Stir in the flour all at once. Knead dough until smooth and elastic. Cover with a clean cloth and let rise for about 2 hours. Melt other stick of butter. Punch dough down and roll out into a rectangle about 1/2" to 3/4" thick. Cut into pieces. Dip each piece in butter and place around in a bundt pan. Make two layers. Cover and let rise for 2 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

MONKEY BREAD
2 c. milk
1/2 c. cooking oil
1/2 c. sugar
2 pkgs. yeast
1/2 c. water
2 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. salt
1 c. potato water
6 c. flour
Butter, melted
Peel and cube 1 potato and cook until very soft in 1 1/4 cups water. Mash potato in water.
Heat milk, oil and sugar; cook to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in water. Combine milk and yeast mixtures. Add eggs, salt and potato water. Add flour and mix well. Turn into greased bowl and grease top. Cover with tea towel and let rise in warm place. To make into monkey bread loaf, punch dough down, roll in flour, pinch off pieces and roll into 1 1/2" oblong shapes. Dip each into melted butter. Dip in a mixture of cinnamon sugar. Sprinkle with chopped pecans in between layers. Or you can just drizzle honey on the buttered bread layers. Lay in greased and floured ring mold or bundt pan as you would stack bricks. Let rise and bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes or until brown.

In bowl #1
3/4 cup warm milk, 1/2 cup shortening, 1 egg, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 cup sugar
In bowl #2
1/4 cup warm water, 1/2 pkg yeast, pinch of sugar..let set for at least 5 minutes
Mix bowls 1 and 2. add 3 cups of flour...knead and let rise till double...in warm place
roll into 1 inch balls...dip into melted butter..then roll them into sugar cinnamon mix
3/4 cup brown sugar..2 tsp cinnamon
drop into buttered bundt pan....let rise
bake for 30 - 35 mins then glaze
glaze
1/2 cup icing aka confectioners sugar
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
for a change i also will add raisins, cherries, or dried cranberries
