Okay I am going to start an internet radio station and Its going to be ran by listeners like they upload music to me and I play it, as long as they upload it to me and its not copyrighted do I have to have a license to play it?

It an sure that I don't have to have a licnse if its in the publi domain but what if the son becomes popular then the person shows up at my door and says I want $$$ now?!?

It doesn't matter who uploaded them. If you store it in your server, play it, and benefit from it, you need the license from the copyright holder to do it. You can not say you didn't upload them, so you are not liable.... it won't fly.

Also, remember, most tapes and CDs you purchase at the stores are licensed for your personal enjoyment only. If you use it to broadcast, or for business, it requires different (and much more expensive) license.

depends on the song I think, and how many people end up listening. If its just a few then nobody will care. But if the sites really good then it will become an issue.
