There really aren't enough details in your question to answer it properly but I can give you a little information about dogs normal vital signs so that you can try to assess it better.
The normal temperature for a dog is about 101.4. You can take his temp at home with a rectal thermometer if he sits still. Just like you would with a baby. Anything above 103 and below 98 needs to be seem IMMEDIATELY by a vet. Heart rate and breathing rate can vary depending on the size of the dog - smaller are usually higher and bigger are usually lower. You can pick up the lip and press lightly on the gums and if it takes longer then about 2 seconds for the color to return, that can be a sign of dehydration and of blood loss. Pick up the skin on the back of the neck...if it does not spring back into place quickly that can also be a sign of dehydration. BTW, the wet/dry nose thing is just a wives tale so don't try to use that.
Vomiting can be a sign of soooo many different things that it is impossible to tell you here what the problem is. The moto that my vet used was "One vomit does not an emergency make"...but if it happens again and again, accompanied with fever, low appetite and/or diarrhea, get him to a vet quickly.
Parvo (which can cause vomiting) is a horrible disease that kills quick and can be difficult to treat OR he could have eaten something off of the floor that didn't agree with him OR...well you get the picture.
If you take the vital signs I mentioned above and things are not normal, then take him to the vet right away. Hope this helps and good luck!

Take the dogs temperature in it's behind. It should be 101 degrees is normal. If higher than that call you vets. Something dogs throws up because it has an upset tummy only but the shivering is a good sign the dog has fever and you need to find out why right away. Don't wait. Cathy

Just because he threw up doesn't mean he has fever. He could just have a upset stomach. Touch his nose If Its warm then yes he has a fever. He probably just need to east some grass though.

If you have thermometer that you can throw away place it in the dogs rectum. Normal for dogs is between 101 and 102.5 degrees F give or take. I would still recommend seeing the vet.
