grow up and educate yourself and your kids about what it shows, signifies and represents. it happened, from the suffering came the greatest triumph. the image calls to mind what happened and leads us to ponder the life and death of christ as he did it for us. understand the importance of mass and what truly is happening during the liturgy and eucharist and you'll not be so offended and grossed out.scripurecatholic.com,google catholic, talk to a priest, scott hahns "the lambs supper" is also a good book that focuses on the eucharist and revelations.

WOW what kind of church did you go into where members of the congregation are tortured like that???
Just kidding.. if you're talking about images of the crucified Jesus Christ, then you are really being ignorant. Everyone needs to know what Jesus went through so that none of us has to go to eternal hell. I cetainly appreciate it. Think about it... do you know ANYONE right now that would go through what he went through for you? I don't. Not even my mom. But He DID. It's never to early to learn about what happened. So, if you had been teaching your kids about it at home, it wouldn't come as a shock to them once they saw it in church. Just my humble opinion.
...and I hope that is what you're talking about. Othewise someone should call the authoities on this so called church you went to.

That's the only part that is even half honest about religion.
Life sucks and it's up to the people to change it.Don't think of it as an insane glorification but as a reminder of man's cruel
ignorance toward one another. Be honest if you are for your children tell them why they don't talk to strangers ; if you really want to protect them as you asserted.
peaceout, teach your children well.

you have got already pointed out the project here. "I now worry approximately going to hell" think ofyou've have been given to appreciate that faith, specially the Catholic faith, relies upon heavily on psychology to substantiate that it relatively is followers carry the religion. the point is to make you a "god fearing Christian". The concept is which you would be so afraid of the wrath of god which you will undertake the religion for hardship of eternal damnation. you moreover would element out being interested in church homes and and non secular icons. back psychology is being employed and maximum folk do no longer even take excitement in how we are being manipulated. The architechture is designed to be awe inspiring. huge, elaborately adorned structures designed to stress the ability of god. while you walk interior of you detect large ceilings designed to make the guy think of small and insignificant consisting of artwork and bigger than life statues depicting the suffering of Jesus, and the saintlyness of his followers and enjoyed ones all portrayed in surprising ingredient and heavenly mushy. think me the psychology is so physically powerful which you will no longer fail to be suffering from making use of it. I even have for sure no concept in the life of an all reliable diety and yet I even have been interior of church homes and felt the emotional effects of the paintings and the architechture and the statues and the photographs in the stained glass abode windows. Thats precisely what they are designed to do. even nonetheless regardless of the awe and the sweetness i became nonetheless no longer confident relating to the life of god. I in simple terms questioned how they might justify development such huge and expensive monuments to god at a time in historic previous whilst maximum folk have been living in precis poverty and degradation and that i in a timely vogue have been given here back to fact.

We need to remember the great sufferings of the Messengers of the One True God to practice the lessons of thankfulness, love and sacrifice.
But, in our civilized society today, perhaps we can worship the Divine Educators without using any images.

You obviously have a closed mind, so what are you seaking with this question? Why would a rational, caring parent "protect" their children from the love of God?

The object of that is Jesus(son of God) gave himself to pay for OUR sins so we do not have to. Its our reminder he is the reason & the way we can go to be with him in heaven because of the supreme sacrifice he made for us. If we only believe in him. John 3:16

We glorify Jesus, the one who sacrificed himself for us, so we could be freed from Satan, sin, and death.
We preach Christ crucified in order to remember the price Jesus paid for our sins.
The crucifix one sees in every Catholic church is also there to remind us that at every Catholic worship service, Jesus, who is the eternal sacrifice of Calvary, becomes truly and substantially present for us, on the altar.
Perhaps you don't understand these things because your parents never learned them, and so failed to pass them on to you.
Don't make the same mistake.

Yeah, it's freaky.
My mom's a religious nut, but she doesn't believe in hanging pictures of "Jesus" on the wall so lucky me, I didn't have to see that kinda stuff growing up.
It's strange to see that for the first time, I knew who/what it is, but it was still strange.
