Well, i think i have accent. I tried yes i really did, to talk like american but I can't.. They understand me but i do have an accent i want to get rid of it but don't know how,,,maybe it's not possible i am 17, I am from one of asian country but people say i don't have an accent like asian people..any ideas? anything u want to tell me

I don't want talk like American accent if i don't have to. I just want everyone to understand me and that is all i want....I like my accent i really do but....some American dont'understand my accent...

Losing an accent can be tough. One thing to try is to live in that country for a while. Another would be to listen to native speakers and try to repeat sound for sound what they are saying. A third option would be to hire a speech/accent tutor to help you speak with an American accent rather than an Asian one.

Why are you so interested in having the American accent ?
It is difficult to get read of an accent. If you want to get the American accent, speaking with only Americans won't help getting it. You have to live there, listen to it everyday, through TV, radio, people in the street..
You know there aren't only Americans in the world. They are difficult to understand ( Texas accent is quite hard ). You don't have to worry about the fact that you're not understood by some Americans if your are understood by other nationalities.
And maybe the problem comes from them and not from you.

At 17, I think it`s already too late.
Sorry to disappoint you.
You`re already grown and past puberty so forget it!
If you had moved to the U.S. ten years ago, I strongly believe that you might have been able to gradually change your accent.
But not now buddy!
Besides, foreign accents can be very charming you know.
Why are you so desperate to change yours?
It`s almost like wishing you were taller or born the opposite gender!!!
Stop torturing yourself and enjoy what you have.
Your life will become much more pleasurable when you do!

Why would you want to lose your accent? accents are great, and the way you are is the way you are supposed to be!
