moondaughter: I'M not the misogynist. It's in the christian bible, I don't follow their bible for reasons like this. But since they are fond of both misogyny and torture, I was simply asking whether or not torture is still the primary way they enforce this biblical double-standard.

The bible does say that women should be silent in church after all.
This is from their own book;
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church" (1 Corinthians 14:34-35)

What else can one say about such a misogynistic cult?

I'm seriously laughing out loud!
That is hilarious!

Could you imagine?
How does anyone ever get a woman to stay quiet. It's impossible. We cannot comprehend that concept. We shush for a second, while we consider the implication of "not talking"....then we just shrug it off and keep on rambling about something or other.

The verse in question, something along the lines of "If women have something to say, they should go home and ask there husbands," does not appear in any versions of the Bible before a certain time, meaning that it wasn't in the origional, added by some trancriber. I was told this by a proffesor of religion, so I'm inclined to believe him.

Silly, you're supposed to ignore that part. Us humans are all programmed with insta-knowledge about the Bible, concerning which parts we should truly follow and which parts we shouldn't. However, all of the Bible is still true. Don't get confused!

In some religions in this world it is done simply by excluding the women from the place of worship.

At my church we put tape over their mouths. This job is usually given to the senior deacon.

They don't. No one can keep women silent. Ever. Church, football games, libraries, doesn't matter. There is no force in the universe that can consistently compel women to be silent.
