If you want my opinion, buy either a Cobra or Uniden radio, in the $100-$150 range, it will have most all the bells and whistles you need, without all the ones you don't. If you go higher you are paying for a super radio with other bands on it you will probably never use. I would definitely suggest getting a SSB radio, which is "Single Side Band" meaning you can use freq's between each regular CB channel, effectively tripling your channels and giving you a bit more privacy on the road, and, a lot of truckers use SSB so you can usually drop to a SSB channel for more private talking when you need to.

Although I agree with the first suggester, I don't think you need to spend that much on a first time CB radio.
