First, is this your first boyfriend? and secondly, how are you hugging him, because I don't mean to sound like your mother, and I am only 23 so not that much older than you, but sometimes at that age we don't see things the way our parents do. Often our parents are just trying to protect us. My mum was like that with my first boyfriend when I was your age, and when we hit 6 months of dating, we hadn't done anything but kiss and hold hands, and she sat me down for "the talk" wasn't that fun, I was so angry with her. It was until now when I am older and I see how teenagers are with one another that I completely see my mother's concern and where it was coming from. Perhaps if you just sit down with your mum and talk to her about things and be open with her about your relationship with this young man, she might be more open to it. Has she met him? Have you asked her if you could have him around for dinner? These are things that will put her mind at ease and help her to trust you more and be a little more relaxed. Good luck with it :)

you will probably never be old enough. sorry, but i am a parent of a 17 yo girl and i regularly tell her to behave in public like a lady. we do this cuz mainly we have been there and done that and eventhough many things have changed some haven't and some people may say that they are modern but really hold on to the old ways of thinking when it comes to young people. at least to me pda's are embarassing sometimes when people go too far.

You will be old enough when you are 18. Your parents will think you are old enough when you are 50.

Parents are human and they get scared and because they get scared they sometimes make mistakes.

We think if we keep you from growing up you won't make a mess of your life.

Talk to your Mom about this boy....tell her something things about him....let her met him.

They just don't want you to get hurt. Albeit, if you're sixteen, it's a little late to start thinking about it. o_O;
