Please do this:
Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD!
As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.
Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.
Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude.
(It's Not the Christian Way, ya know?)
ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004
Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions.. So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a Holiday Tree. . . . It's a Christmas Tree! Also, send this to your e-mail buddies.

ACLU = American Civil Liberties Union.
It fights for the Civil Rights of all Americans.
It stands for freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press. Often the group will take up a legal case free of charge to fight for these rights. Those who say it takes away your rights are just trying to fool you and insult you.
Whenever the Bill of Rights from the Federal Constitution is challenged the ACLU will be there to defend it. Whenever someone is prevented from exercising their rights as granted to them by the Constitution the ACLU will be a party to the lawsuit.
They will defend the right to sell pornography to adults, the right for Nazis to stage a march in a Jewish neighborhood. They will also defend the right of the communist party to run a candidate for president. Most of the ACLU are liberals and the group is popular with the Democrats. Liberals would not like to defend Nazis, but you can't pick and chose your rights. If it is legal for religious people to stage a march, then the Nazis have the same rights. The ACLU is defending the ideal of the Bill of Rights.

Some notable ACLU cases
1920-1960: In 1925, the ACLU persuaded John T. Scopes to defy Tennessee's anti-evolution law in a court test. Clarence Darrow, a member of the ACLU National Committee, headed Scopes' legal team. The ACLU lost the case and Scopes was fined $100. The Tennessee Supreme Court later upheld the law but overturned the conviction on a technicality.
1960-1990: In 1968, the ACLU successfully argued against state bans on interracial marriage, in the case of Loving vs. Virginia.
1977: the ACLU filed suit against the Village of Skokie, Illinois, seeking an injunction against the enforcement of three town ordinances outlawing Nazi parades and demonstrations. Skokie, Illinois at the time had a majority population of Jews, totaling 40,000 of 70,000 citizens. A federal district court struck down the ordinances in a decision eventually affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
2006: In January 2006, the ACLU filed a lawsuit, ACLU v. NSA, in a federal district court in Michigan, challenging government spying in the NSA warrantless surveillance controversy.

If you are a sane, rational person, it's the organization that ensures that the rights enshrined in the Constitution are protected and uniformly applied without favour or prejudice. Sometimes that means defending people whose opinions you don't agree with, but that's necessary.
For Conservatives and some Christians it is the organization to to blame whenever the world doesn't bend over backwards to applaud their attempts at bypassing the Constitution and forcing their values on everyone.

It is the American Civil Liberties Union. "The ACLU's mission is to preserve the Bill of Rights' protections and guarantees for all people. If the rights of society's most vulnerable members can be denied, everyone's are imperiled."

The American Civil Liberties Union is legally active group which defends your basic rights under the constitution - they will defend your right to free speech even if no one wants to hear it (in the case of the KKK or Jerry Farwell) and also your right to the freedom from religion in the classroom (keeping creationism out of the classroom). If the law is on your side, they will help you, often for free.

American civil Liberties Union. It works to protect the constitution and all the rights of Americans. It has become controversial in recent years and conservatives hate it. I approve of it and not just because conservatives hate, though that is a strong selling point for me.

Some think it means Atheists, Criminals, and Liberals Union.
They defend all of the above.
Some think it means Anti-Christian Liberal Union.
They love to sue Christians.
At one time they said, 'You can agree to do it our way, or we can sue you until you can't defend yourself anymore.'
Sounds like the power of the purse.
