I understand completely, I've been through this. When my grades would drop, it felt like I was a disappointment. You're already doing the right thing by talking to the school psychologist. I didn't tell anyone at all. Here's something useful to know: Your grades in HS have absolutely ZERO impact on real life! if you get a 3.8 or 4.0 or 3.0, as long as you graduate college, it doesn't actually matter. It doesn't even really matter WHAT college you graduate from. But I doubt you'll believe me until you are in your mid to late 20s and see it for yourself.

What help me is to get and read encouraging books by inspiring people. I was very depressed at one time. When I went to a psychologist, he recommended that I take a medication. I started taking the medication and it made me agree to everything. I mean everything. Later, I decided that I didn't want to be medicated anymore. So, I tried to take myself off the medication. Guess what? It started sending electrical currents through my body. I called the doctor back and was told to ween myself off the medication. They stated that no one else had complained of these side effects. From that day on, I knew that I would not take anymore medications for depression. I tell myself everyday that I am human. And as humans, we need to take time out. We don't have to be in competition with others. You are special just the way you are. Stop being so hard on yourself. Your sister is one person and you are another. She has her strengths and you have yours. The same way both of you have weakness. You may be blessed in books, where as I may be blessed in dealing with people. We are all unique in our own ways. You are always in control of your body and emotions. Remember that. Lately a lot of people have been advertising about depression, stating that alot of people are depressed. I disagree. I don't think we are depressed. Maybe we're overwhelmed. But nevertheless, we have to know when it is time for a breather or timeout. Relax and take deep breathes in and out. You will be ok. But always feel the comfort to talk to your parents. I wish I could talk to one of mines. Good Luck.

Exercise is good for it. Also, dont suffer with this alone. There are very good meds for this. I suffered in silence for alot of years and when I finally got help I realized it was needless. The meds do have some not so great side effects at first, but not like as bad as they use to be. After a month or so the meds really help.
