Do all humans naturally perceive life through the eyes of the past? And that what we perceive in others is distorted by our own perception of ourselves that we directly or indirectly struggle with? And if we are only responsive by what is a reflection of what has been impressed upon us, then does this make our very nature mechanical and only reflexive in general? Are we nothing more than trained minds? Seems like we are continually training our minds to certain set patterns, and all of life is the adopting/adapting of set patterns.

Thank you for replying

I believe we do. We all seem to create our own realities based on personal life experience. The longer you live in that pattern, the harder it is to change (You can't teach an old dog, new tricks)

Good point, I agree with you. Think about if humans were born in isolation. They wouldn't know the past or present, they would just be. This actually happened, but based on past events, we evolved and became what we are today. So pretty much, we humans live our lives based on what surrounds us.

yes, read up on EXISTENTIALISM. The basic premise behind this philosophy (of which I subscribe to), is "existence precedes essence" (that human beings are born as empty vessels). They are not inherently anything (good, bad, etc)

Our past experiences define who we are. Without them, we would continuously see and understand the world as newborns do.
