Okay, so I was eating lunch here at work and the news was on. I sat there watching the latest on suspended lethal injections for rapists, murderers, and serial killers then a story came on about a woman who murdered her 19 month old an threw him in a dumpster. I wanted to puke!!!! I lost my appitite, got up from the table and came back from lunch early!!! My baby is 16 months old, ever since I became a mother I CANNOT STOMACH such horrible stories, I want to beat the crap out of that woman and cry for her baby. How do you deal with such emotions that come about in this way?? Now watch, this woman won't have to pay for what she did because leathal injection in the state of California is now considered cruel and unsual punishment....WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE MAKING THESE DECISIONS??

I feel that if you are pushed to your limit as a mother and refuse (it's out there and you don't have to look very hard to get it!) to get help, don't be selfish! That woman should have ended her own life and NOT her childs!!!!!

I heard the story about the mom who microwaved her baby to death and I totally understand your emotions. I was sickened by what she did and thought about if for days. I questioned what type of person could do such a thing and I thought about what type of punishment would be deemed appropriate for a crime like that.
But in the end for me it all came down to this people who end up doing things like that are really sick and I would think they show signs of needing help before they act out such terrible crimes.
I just wonder how many people saw there was a major problem and looked the other way because "hey, what can I do?" instead of getting involved and doing what was best for the safety of the child and the mom by helping her get the professional help she obviously needed.
I guess what I am wondering is how can crimes like these be prevented?

I agree with you I have an eighteen month old and cant begin to understand why people do this. I get sick and sometimes cry when I see news stories like these. I usually turn off the tv and go hug my little girl. You are right I say an eye for an eye people get off way to easy now days. They should know there are some consequences to the awful things they do. Why not just take your baby to a hospital or church and leave them at least then they may have a chance at a better life.

I know just how you feel. When I was in college I had to do a lot of research papers and projects on child abuse. (I have a degree in criminal justice). At the time I had just two kids and was pregnant with my third. I heard stories that would make you go sterile. The only way I could get through it was to remind myself that I am trying to raise good kind and responsible people, and hope that they turn out a little less screwed up. I know that does not help
much, and I know that these stories make you hold your baby that much tighter. One thing I did learn in school was that the term Criminal Justice means just that, It is justice for the criminal not the victims and I don't agree with a lot of it. All we can do is raise our babies the best we can, and not allow people to get away with what we know is wrong.
RE: To Lacrosse:
It does cost more to execute a person then it does to keep a person in prison for the rest of their life. The costs of appeals and all the junk that goes with it is INSANE. Just think it usually takes at least 20 years to get someone executed anyway because of the courts being tied up in stupidity. The amount of money to keep a person in prison for one year is about 1 million.

I know exactly how you feel. It is no different when some teenager throws their newborn in the garbage or when that teenage mother threw her newborn out of her 5th(?) story apartment window. It makes me sick. If these people cannot handle the pressures of motherhood they shouldn't have sex. If they are unwilling to care for an innocent life that didn't ask to be here then they shouldn't have sex. I don't understand how someone can hurt a child. I know from experience that motherhood can be frustrating sometimes and sometimes you feel like pulling out your hair but that is no reason to kill a child.
There should be a test you have to take to become a parent and they should have to take parenting classes.

There is nothing wrong with the people making decisions. Whether you voted for them or not, the majority of your peers certainly did, and therefore, don't complain about things like this that are purely legislative. Write a letter to your state representative or the Governator if you want something done about it.
Anyway, putting an end to lethal injections is arguably an economic move and could be seen as having nothing to do with cruel and unusual punishment. It actually costs more to keep someone on death row for a few years than it does to keep someone in prison for life (in most cases). The costs of appeals and death row security usually cost more than simply locking someone up for the rest of his or her life. Also, some would argue that a painless lethal injection is more humane than spending life in prison.

I'm the same way.... My son is 2 and I can't bear stories of young children being hurt. Its wierd, I saw and went through things while I was in the Marines but it just opens your eyes and hits close to home when dealing with a child. These issues unfortunately are what make us a free nation. Majority rules on most cases.

I'm a mother too and any child abuse story or any tragedy involving children brings me to tears instantly. I think the love most mothers have for their children is soooo deep and Strong that when we hear of these terrible stories our hearts really do feel pain for these innocent children and it affects us mothers deeply- as the possibility of anything bad happening to our kids is definitely our worst nightmare.
And yes laws regarding and abuse to children really have to be stricter all over the world. Capital punishment for an intentional death of a child should be mandatory everywhere.

Yep but what you wont see in the news is what the other women who have children who they miss on the outside treat her in prison., I don't want her to go out "easy" with lethal injection, too good for her. The others will make her life HE)) inside...what she did to her child is NOTHING compare to what she will become INSIDE the prison.

I agree, that's the mothers and fathers' selection, although somewhat one isn't finished springing up after delivery. the mummy nonetheless passes sufficient quantities of all the important micro and macro foodstuff, DNA, and maximum severely, immunities, through breast milk. Breast fed infants are shown to enhance speedier and extra healthy in maximum circumstances. that's to no longer say that a formula-fed baby would desire to no longer improve in a superbly prevalent vogue, although this is to assert which you're taking attainable by ability of no longer feeding it breast milk. That being mentioned, some mothers would take it in my opinion and attempt to defend your baby's rights, yet interior the tip, it is your baby. no longer theirs.
