She's acting on her instinct to better the chances of the survival of the other pups by trying to get rid of the one she considers sick or has less chance of survival or thinks there's something wrong with. Take the pup to the vet and see what the vet thinks. Sometimes animals do reject their young for funny reasons like they have the wrong smell but I believe the former is more likely. There probably is something wrong with it. Doggy mommies can tell. If the pup is indeed healthy and mom won't care for it, you'll have to hand feed it every 2 hours something like divetelact (powdered milk for puppies/kittens) with an eyedropper or a syringe. You will also have to rub its tummy with cotton wool or something similar to stimulate it to pee and poop. The vet will give you further advice, this isn't exhaustive. Good luck.

well, unless you are prepared to feed that pup you need to find a way to get the mom to take it back. However , I believe that you have already breeched that respect, this is why mothers should not introduce their young to the world, because others, just can't keep their hands to themselves...... try coaxing the mother into taking it back, and then don't touch it again if she does until she is ready for you to. If you cannot get her to take it back, then you have to start feeding it yourself. You can typically get any vet to give you directions on the type of food the pup will be able to tollerate , and when you should feed it. I am sorry to be so bold but you may have just done this poor thing more harm than good, and in the future try to remember this .......IF IT ISN'T YOURS THEN DON'T TOUCH IT !!!!!

Take that pup to the vet as soon as possible. Sometimes mom's know that something is wrong before we do and try to remove them to benefit the healthy ones in the litter. Take the baby in now!!

Take the pup to the vet something is wrong with it. The mother knows. Also bottle feed it and don't put it back with the mother. Cathy

Are you handling that pup more than the others? Mom dogs don't like folks handling their babies a whole lot. She may not appreciate your smell on her baby. Try not to handle them too much till they are weaned.
