A few tricks to find the best places. One, stay longer, it gets cheaper and cheaper - off season, it is easy to stay a month for the price of a weeks rack rate, especially in the smaller places. Two, never ever stay in a place thats foriegn owned. It will be overpriced and bad for the country in general. Eat at least one meal a day where u are staying when staying at small places. Three, decide where you are going - stay as long as you can because its an amazing country to travel. I enjoy Bangkok for shopping, nightlife, food. I stayed at a place called the Prince Palace, its local owned, very good 3+ star, cheap as chips (around US$35/night) including full buffet breakfast, gym and pool. Baiyoke Sky is fun too, the tallest hotel in the world with a great buffet on the 77th floor. ChiangMai is a beautiful safe small city, excellent for scooter travel around the area. Stay in the old town, inside the moat. Go by train if going there - 2nd class air sleeper overnight. The southern beaches are stunning, Im very partial to Koh Lanta, an island down south. Stayed at a place called the Andaman on the main beach, was great, drank and smoked at Ottos, a local Thai owned bar next door. Ask for Otto, hes cool.

Ive booked literally a hundred nights at 20 or more places with this website, had very very good service from them, always competitive, and contactable by phone too if needed.

There are plenty of cheap places to stay in Thailand. The country caters for all types of tourists but if you want both "luxurious" and "cheap " then you will be disappointed. You can not have BOTH cheap and luxury as well as "ultra cool". Like everything else in life - you get what you pay for.

You can have the "luxurious" even in the golden triangle - like "five star, luxury cabins up the top of the trees" where your view is literally OF the three countries of the triangle but be willing to pay megabucks for these.

Ultra cool and cheap - yes! Bangkok, Pattaya, The islands - Samui, Phuket, Phi phi, etc, Chiangmai, Chiang Rai, Hua Hin. They all have them. But "luxurious"? Then you have to pay.

Depends on what is "cheap" to you, I guess. It's all relative.

It depends on what you wanna do. The beaches: go to Samed Island, or Samui Island. The mountains in the northearn part of the country in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Lampoon is quite good, too. People who love the sea often goes to Krabi (James Bond Island), Phuket, Phagna.
You could find cheap places everywhere to stay and eat. Luxury depends on what you mean.
But at this rate, the US is going down 16 per cent against Thai Baht so far, you've better be hurry before it's not cheap anymore.

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand has both old-world attraction and modern convenience offered up in a seemingly chaotic way, but always with a gracious smile, see more with Hotelbye . At 1,600 square kilometres and counting, Bangkok is huge, and the many different areas could be bewildering. In Bangkok you are able to look at the Grand Palace, one of many must-see on this city. The Grand Palace was built in 1782 and for 150 decades your home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government. The Grand Palace of Bangkok is just a Grand old dame that continues to own guests in awe with its lovely architecture and intricate depth, every one of which really is a proud salute to the imagination and craftsmanship of Thai people.
