There are some. I am actually surprised at how pro-choice seems to go with liberalism.
While it makes sense that liberalism would run with atheism (both are free-minded, rebellious ideologies), I have often been shocked that pro-choice has joined the ranks of those against the death penalty. It seems that an anti-hypocritical view (such as "I don't want the government to have the right to kill me, so I won't support the death penalty") would also support ideas about not letting others kill unborn "life."
But, people tend to be like sheep and liberals are attached to women's rights which happen to desire the freedom to abort, so there you go.

If all atheists were pro-choice, that would sugguest that pro-choice is the optimum social result in the absence of subjective morality that's brought about via religion. But no, there are pro-life atheists, and I know at least one person here is a pro-life agnostic (not me), but I don't have specific names. Also, I don't know about any pro-life atheists that bomb abortion clinics...

I'm pro-choice legally (meaning that I oppose the anti-choice political movement), but I am opposed personally to having an abortion (meaning I won't have one, regardless of the circumstances). I know several atheists who are part of the anti-choice political movement.

There are pro-life atheists. To this first person that commented, a agnostic is much different than an atheist.

Just becuase you do not believe in god does not mean you can not think it is wrong to kill an unborn child.
Not believing in a higher power also does not make you a bad person. It really disgusts me how stereotyped atheists are. Considering how society is.

Yes.
I can't stop anyone from making the choice they believe is right for them, and abortion *is* a legal choice.
For me, however, it is no choice at all.
I support a woman's right to choose:
-- to choose to abstain until ready for a child
-- to choose to take birth control pills
-- to choose to insist her partner wears a condom - correctly
-- to choose to give her unplanned child to a family desperate for one
-- to choose to re-order her life to make a place for her child
When a sperm and egg connect and begin the process that creates a new life, the genetic blueprint for that child is in place. In that moment, it is already decided whether that baby will be a boy or girl, whether it's eyes will be blue or brown. If that life is destroyed, that genetic blueprint cannot be re-created and the person who would have been is lost forever.

Of course there are. But most of them are pro-choice, since they don't feel the need to force their beliefs on other people's lives or bodies.

J.P. (a regular of R&S) is. It surprised me too. He even said that his atheism helped him become pro-life.
