I'd like some opinions, please. My little 8 pound dog, Tiara, needs a bath but it's hard on my knees (I'm 48) when I give her a bath in the bathtub. So I told my daughter, "Well, I'll just take her in the shower with me tomorrow morning and soap her up while I hold her." She called me a psychopath and asked if I was kidding. haha. I know, it sounds a bit odd but it would be so quick and convenient. What do you guys think?

I bathe my dogs that way, but shower afterwards. It's the easiest way to do it, they don't freak out, and you end up getting a bath whether you want one or not washing a dog.

My dog loves swimming but HATES baths. I take Rusty in the shower, soap and rinse him off that let him out of the tub to shake off. I found that it's much quicker that way rather than fighting to hold him still in the tub (I'm also 48 with bad knees) plus, it rinses the soap off of him better so that he doesn't get skin irritations. He's going to be 17 yrs old in a couple of weeks and I've been doing it that way for years. The first time I did it was with another dog (who has since passed) because she was 80 lbs and I live in an apartment, but then I just found that it worked better. Rusty is only 13 lbs, but he's quick. It would only be twisted if you took the dog in the shower with you for the "fun" of it.

Erm... I know something who used to take bubble baths with his chihuahua foxy cross. I thought that was gross cause ur sitting in dog wee poo water but hey. He was a sick guy. I don't think showers are that sick - I bathe all of my dogs in the shower but I"m fully clothed, not naked, and they stand on the floor of the shower! I have previously bathed all of my small dogs in the laundry tub. It's seriously convenient. You just stick em in there, you're standing up, it's already more or less the right height, oh yeah and you buy one of those doggy shower hose attachments and stick it onto the tap. Oh yeah I've bathed the in the shower too but it's hard on my back, and I've had knee surgery recently so it's impossible on my knees now since I'm now unable to kneel (Í'm only 27 too!!) so I know exactly what you mean!! :)

I have an associate that showers with her lab, just because the dog is so much larger than she is and it is a way of controlling the dog.

Do not use your shampoo or shower gel on your dog as it will dry out her skin. Just wet her down and lather her up with her normal dog shampoo. Rinse her well, and if you want to put her out of the shower so she can shake, do so, then take your shower. Please make sure that you have rinsed all of the dog shampoo off of you as it is not good to have this on your skin.

I hope this helps.

what goes on in your house is your business
now petco and petsmart have the new dog bathtubs for easier bathing. dont know if they work or for sure what you call them but you might check it out i going to pretty soon myself. good luck

I see nothing wrong with it. If you feel a bit odd, put your bathing suit on. But I can't think of a better way of washing her then getting right in the tub with her, especially if the ole' knees are acting up. Go ahead, let your daughter laugh.

I have several frinds that do that too, I couldnt my dog is to big, and I dont know if I could really bring my self to do it, I dont think its too weird but not my cup of tea. Given the size of your dog, have you considered using a laundry tub or even a baby bath on a bench or table somewhere?

Gail, I wouldn't care what anyone said, if it is more convenient for you, and I sympathize about the knees mine are the same way, do it. When we get older and start hurting places we didn't even know we had, we have to find ways to improvise, and showing with you little dog is a smart choice. Screw what anybody else thinks.

It's great to do. I'd have achieved it with my dog besides he used to be a enormous sheltie and would jumo out of the bath xD do not fear, you are not by myself in doing this. You could want to have your daughter or anybody else on name so while you finish with the puppies, that you would be able to yell for them and they are able to take the puppies from you and dry them at the same time you conclude your bathe. :)

it truly is positive to do. i'd have achieved it with my canine except he replaced right into a large sheltie and would jumo out of the tub xD do not hardship, you're not to any extent further on my own in doing this. you would favor to have your daughter or somebody else on call so once you end with the canine, you are able to yell for them and they could be able to take the canine from you and dry them at the same time as you end your bathe. :)
