I dont get it!?

Question

Ok so the goverment already knows that cigarettes contain cancer causing chemicals, and nicotine, but what i dont get is why they just dont take it of the market or better yet take out the nicotine in the cigarettes, so that way whenever a first timer smokes it wont be addicting.

Because we have a freedom of choice. Couple with the fact that cigarette makers pay millions of dollars in local, state and government taxes. Also,many of the foods we eat also contain cancer causing substances, or other substances that are just plain unhealthy. I really think it's all about the politics, and I'm sure that some people in the government, past and present, are getting their pockets lined by these companies. Best of luck to you.

They are contradicting, i guess. While the taxes from cigarettes are giving them revenue, they are also asking the citizens not to smoke.

So to smoke or not smoke, that is the question.

What is the answer?

Well, they outlawed booze once too. It went underground, becoming illegal changed organized crime from a small, dime criminals into rich powerful crime families.

I don't smoke and don't like it, but I also don't think it's the governments job to be out mommy and daddy.

The tobacco lobby contributes a tremendous amount of money to our elected politicians, so they really don't want to bite the hand that is feeding them...
