It is thought that all the ones with Tularemia (Rabbit Fever) will die off after the freeze and snow comes. You can get tularemia from ticks or from having an open wound come in contact with an infected rabbit. Like when you are butchering one and cut yourself. There are other ways of course, like drinking contaminated water, dust from soil, or handling pelts of infected animals.

Rabbits get sore's on them which can be contageous in the warm weather, cold and snow will kill the sore's.
I grew up in SouthEast Kansas and my Father explianed to me and showed them to me.
They will borrow in the snow and if you look you will need only a 22 to shoot them as they will not run far if at all.
Jacks will run and they are really not eatable unless you can tender rise them.

Rabbits carry some disease, and after the first freeze, all of the ones that are sick will supposedly die off. I can't remember what the disease is called, but I think it's some kind of fever.
