They can be, but each dog has it's own personality. Find a reputable and responsible breeder, or contact the BH rescue group, and ask your questions to him or her for the most honest answers. Good luck to you.

oh yes they are. One of my best friends as a child was a basset hound. My neighbor as a child had one named Whinnie, and i would play with her every day and take her for walks. WONDERFUL dog, i miss her all the time. Though every dog is different, and has a different personality even within the same breed, i have found every basset that i've met was the sweetest thing.

Basset hounds are the best dogs! They are great with family. The only draw backs are they are very stubborn! Because of this, they can be hard to housetrain. Ours is also a little food aggressive when it comes to other dogs. As far as people though, they are very lovable.

I had years ago, and she was very friendly and protective. We loved her. We have four children ranging in age from 3 to 15, and she was very nice to the kids. Hope this helps :)

Yes, actually they are one of the top dogs for families. They love everyone especially kids!
