Yes it is. You can go, but your wife should not as second hand smoke is very harmful. Honestly, I wish all public smoking was banned so we didn't have to worry about these things.

It is detrimental to ANYONE'S health to be in a bar that allows smoking. That means inhaling smoke all night. Do you really think it's a good idea?

There is really no good reason for you to go and put your OWN health in jeopardy, risking asthma, cancer, and who knows what else ... for a 'social gathering'? Make some friends who don't DRINK or SMOKE. They're not that hard to find. I have plenty.

So if it's that bad for you, think about it. A pregnant woman? HECK NO. She shouldn't go anywhere near the door, let alone inside.

I know it's ONE NIGHT, but if you're okay with that, you run the risk of becoming the kind of person my sister-in-law is. She's pregnant and rationalizes things ... oh, it's ONE small glass of wine. They tell pregnant women to drink one small glass of wine in France, you know, she says. That turns into ONE bottle, ONE case, and ONE week spent drunk out of her mind. It's not okay. Don't do it even once.

I doubt it will do any harm.

If it's one night and her time is limited indoors there if it get's overly smoky. Let her go get ample fresh air from time to time.

Most bars don't start to fill up with smoke until the later hours anyway. Just leave early if you can and don't worry about it.

If there's loud music in there, that's worse than second hand smoke. I would be more concerned if it's a high decibel bar.

Constant noises over a certain decibel can be quite harmful if she's in her second or third trimester.

YES. there is no safe amount of exposure to second hand smoke. and there is never enough ventilation in any building to remove all the smoke and make it safe. I read recently that a hospital conducted a test to measure the effects of second had smoke on pregnant women, and even just a couple of hours of exposure showed a marked decrease in the oxygen level being obsorbed by the women. don't take the chance if you don't have to.

but then again my friend eating an apple with all the chemicals and stuff on it is bad for baby to inhaling car fumes eating junk food and so forth but its one night dont overly worry the baby will be healthy and happy one night in smoke wont hurt it when millions of babies have mothers that smoke through pregnany and live happy healthy lives

Yes, second hand smoke can be very harmful. Although, if it's just a one night event, I wouldn't worry about it. Wow, I didn't know there were any bars left where you could smoke.

Congrats!

Yes, second hand smoke is very bad for you. Please excuse yourself and your wife from situations like this until after the baby is born. It is her responsibility to save the baby from this kind hazard especially while pregnant.

Yes the second-hand smoke will deprive the baby of oxygen.

However it is one night, so long as it isn't overly smoky it is her decision.
