Take the stem out and hold the lettuce head under the cold running water. It will fill up with water, then turn it over and let it drain out. Do this a few times and set it into a collander to drain. Take it apart leaf by leaf and dry with paper towel.

fill a sink with cold water and put your cut or torn lettuce in it. this way any dirt will fall to the bottom of the sink. lift out of the water and drain , then you can use a spinner.

Washing it in a salad spinner is best. If you don't have one wash it under running water then pat dry with paper towels.
