Spanish is generally regarded as an easier language for English speakers, mostly because German has a more complex grammar. Particular stumbling blocks for English speakers are separable prefix verbs and constructions that place the verb at the end of a sentence.
I would base the choice on interest, ability and the quality of the teacher. Ask around about the Spanish and German teachers. If you find that one is clearly superior, then go with that language. The teacher makes a huge difference in language class. A bad one can make torture of any language.
If you are technically inclined, particularly in fields such as chemistry and engineering, give strong consideration to German. The Germans are leaders in many technical fields, so German can be a big help if you go on to a technical major in college.
That said, Spanish is enormously useful in many fields and in business all over North, South and Central America.
Both could be valuable additions to your resume. Language instruction in many American schools is awful, so I wish you luck with the teacher and the curriculum.
One more thing: Whichever language you choose, never let yourself fall behind in class. Do the work, do the homework and keep up. If you fall behind, you'll get frustrated and quit.

Why bother learning a language at all if all you care about is studying whatever is easier? If you don't have a passion for a language, it doesn't matter whether it's easy or not. I learned more German in a shorter amount of time then I learned in both Spanish and French because I loved the language and that's what's important.
Spanish classes are already filled with people who don't give a crap about the language and all they care about is taking something easy that all the rest of their friends are taking. That sucks for the people who actually care.
The pronunciation is not hard in German, it's a very phonetic language and basically the only sounds they have not in English are the umlauts and ch.

I had four semesters of German in college, I never studied Spanish. English is a member of the Germanic branch and many of the words and the structure of the language are similar, so I would assume that German would be easier.

English is a Germanic language and is as a result very equivalent. Swedish may be very similar to German. German may be a extra valuable language for purchasing a role as plenty of individuals pick to talk Spanish. I needed to pick among German and Spanish and I selected German. Everyone stated it might be tough however it is so very similar to English. The lengthy phrase could positioned you off however they are simply joined in combination and now not that tough to spell. German additionally has quite handy tenses. I recognise you are going to have undoubtedly selected by way of now. I simply desired to support any one who appears at this query for steering

For a native English speaker? Spanish. The words are pronounced pretty much like they're spelled.
