is there supposed to be blood around the vent of my female-egg-laying-mother-to-be-parakeet?

i know she has an egg in there... because i have done this a time or two (two times to be exact), but this time it is with a different bird.

but today i was expecting her to lay her first egg, and i noticed that she was pooping normally and when she did poop it would get stuck to her feathers around that area. So trying to be a good owner i went into the bathroom and wiped the poop off of her butt.
When i got it all off (and i did this very gently) it appeared that she had blood around her vent. WHAT DO I DO?

is her belly swollen at all. It sounds to me that she may be egg bound. Use warm, not hot compresses, wrap her wings and head in a towel and gently apply the compress. If this does not solve the problem actually place her in a warm bath for 5 to 10 minutes and then apply olive oil around her vent. Use a heat source above the cage and try to keep her quiet. If all this fails she will need to been seen by a small animal veterinarian.

it is favourite. dogs have 2 little sacs only interior their bodies next to the anus, at about 4 o'clock and eight o'clock, in which pungent fluid collects. oftentimes you do not want to worry about them (yet in some dogs they have a tendency to get impacted, and want to be manually emptied). at the same time as a canines receives very scared this is going to typically launch each thing in the anal glands quickly. Peeyooeee. i think the anal glands are a vestigial survival of a mechanism like the skunk's, in which the scent drove away a threatening predator. Many doggies go by using a "concern era" in the 2d 0.5 of the first 365 days, in which they imagine all forms of stuff is terrifying. this is not any longer the finest time in a canines's life to educate them to frightening new reviews.

Either she's tearing herself inside trying to pass the egg, or you broke the egg inside her while wiping her. Contact an avian vet for treatment. This can be life threatening.

Please take to an avian certified vet right away!! find one near you here: www.aav.org/vet-lookup this sounds serious and i really think that you should take her to the vet. meanwhile, keep your bird warm (you can use a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel or a heat lamp) and calm. good luck!

Take her to a vet. You are a good parent to do hygine on your bird. I had parakeets before and they would bite the hell out my hand when I tried to help them by holding them.
