I can understand when people actually want to know something, and question people's beliefs, not by insulting them, but because they genuinely want to know something. But some people come on EVERY SINGLE DAY just to talk about how horrible they think a religion is or something. Insulting people's beliefs is practically their life. Why? Are they looking for attention or something?

By the way, these people do not affect me in any way, I just wonder why they bother wasting their time on insulting people. It's really sad!

Godzilla- I am not talking about serious questions, i told you i don't mind those. If you want to question something, there is nothing wrong with that, but when people write ridiculous questions is just dumb, like for example "Is Jesus a fart head?" or something stupid like that. Is that a legitimate question?

Thanks for all the answers by the way.

Iknowtruthismine: Firstly I don't shove my beliefs down your throat, I just simply tell people about it, nobody forces you to do anything, and I am not offending anyone. You too can tell me about your beliefs but not in an offensive way just to insult me. Do you see what I mean? I know everybody has the freedom to say what they want, but insulting is not necessary.

and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

if you spent hours reading these same statements over and over...
"The Earth is 6000 years old"
"You are going to spend eternity and hell for not adopting my opinion as fact"
"Homosexuals will burn in hell forever"
"Islam teaches people to hate and kill others"
"The bible is word for word true"
"Dinosaur bones were put on Earth by God to test our faith"

...you might become a little irritable too. The reason it gets so heated is because there are people out there that believe this nonsense, and are TEACHING others.

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

Even when I ask legitimate questions, I am ridiculed and called every name in the book. I have actually had death wished upon me by Christians here, and many times - not just a few. If you think I have no right to ask questions to try and fathom how the majority thinks, when they also vote, you're mistaken.

Edit: I can see that, but your question was very broad. By the way, this is not an account that I ask serious questions on.

I don't know if they seek attention or not, but with some of the responses, you would think so.

When specific queries are made on a specific subject, the answers are expected to be confined to the perameters the question sugggests, but oftentimes what you get usually doesn't make any sense relative to the question.

This is just the medium available with Answers, and you are going to get all the "extra" input exactly as you would if you had a roundtable discussion composed of a 100000 people. You know there are those that love to hear themselves talk!! LOL

And with that, I am stopping here, myself, so as to not become known as one of them!!

Roya,

Not everyone on here is a d1ckhead. Sadly, a lot are. I too wish Yahoo Answers was a forum for people to hook up and swap intelligent opinions and ideas.

I guess people like you and me (and a long list of notable others) have to put up with all the "background noise" that goes with the territory of an anonymous forum. (I got a warning from Yahoo Answers today for calling a racist a "stupid c0cksucker" the other day. Par for the course, I'm afraid.)

NO. its a community. People listen, people speak. Everyone is entitled to an opinion - good or bad.

I agree with you in some ways, but it is wrong to generalise. I come on here every day. I have been flippant, I have been rude, I have been caring and I have been concerned.

My mood affects my answers, the question asked and its validity also, probably this is true of most of the community !!

have a great day :-)

Maybe they feel that Yahoo is the only way to voice their opinions in a culture that generally disaproves of any kind of predjudice. They feel like nothing can come back on them since identities can be kept secret.
Maybe they are just bored or rude and trying to get reactions beacuse they feel powerful.
Or maybe they're only young and arrogant.
I agree with you that it's OK to want to seek knowlege, but not to insult. You can disagree with someone in a respectful manner.

constuctive critisim

and with religion... to each their own but that won't stop me from thinking Christians especially are all mindwashed....I mean christianity was a whole bunch of stolen ideas designed to turn over pageans.

it's such a joke... but I do believe in a higher power

and I think if you're a good person whether you belive or not should be the decider of eternal damnation...
that's extreem and another thing that makes me think it's all a joke

Hi Roya! I agree with you! Like the other day, I asked a silly common sense question about Allan Jackson and this guy who answered me was such a jerk! Why can't you people answer a simple question without being nasty!?!? Even about religion? I don't think that should be allowed to be discussed on here.

I believe is part of human nature, I don't know why we enjoy looking for what make us different and fighting about that instead of being looking for what make us similar and part of the same world. That happens everywhere and it's responsible for many wars. It is called intolerance. Other than that, there is so much people that just want to get attention.

People like this have either little else going on in their lives or are inadequate and so poke fun or critisise others and their beliefs etc.
Their values are of a low order too, but dont let them upset you.
