Well, if you think a god picked a particular race and gender to speak to, then it's hard to avoid the appearance of favoritism isn't it? When you see drawings of "God," what color is the skin and of what ethnicity the facial features? If you think this hasn't been used (at least subconsciously) to declare women and certain races inferior, think again.

~Duh, who painted the pictures? As to prejudice being born of religion, white atheists hate blacks and hispanics, too.

Prejudice is born of ignorance, as many have said.

But religion is a commonly used cover for passing ignorance around. Think of religion as a mask that ignorance commonly wears.

No one religion can really be blamed for this, because it is not the religion itself that preaches hate; it is how people choose to interpret it, and tell other people to interpret it. These people are found from every walk of life and in every religion, sadly.

To be more accurate, prejudice is born of any system of idea that attempts to exclude a particular group. Communism is prejudiced against the bourgeoise, nationalism is prejudiced against imperialists and elitism scoffs at the plebs.

Maybe it is just our nature to define our reality in terms of 'us' and 'others' and religion just happens to be a handy tool.

Prejudice is only born out of religion only to those who are uneducated. Jesus was arab, theres no disputing that. However, there was a lot of black migration into the middle east around that time so whos to say Jesus wasnt black?
