I think the consequences would be a miserable life. My mind would not stop racing without medicine. I never got a good night's sleep. It seems like I didn't sleep but a couple of hours at one time until I started an antidepressant.

It might get worse or manifest itself in some other anxieties later in life. It can lead to a strange social behavior and a poor social life. Even if you stop doing the obvious OCD related patterns your brain still has a habit of running in circles, and that's a problem. That needs to be changed. Medication is not the only way to deal with it. If you are not happy with prescribed medication you should talk to your doctor about other options.

If left untreated OCD, can cause other disorders such as Tourette syndrome, compulsive skin picking, body dysmorphic disorder, and trichotillomania. Some other forms of treatment for OCD are behavioural therapy, cognitive therapy, medication or a combination of all three. Psychotherapy has also been known to work in some cases, although it is not one of the leading treatments.

It can be treated without meds...if you really put your mind to it.
Exercise, eating right, sleeping 8 hours a night, and seeing a therapist or psychologist for cognitive behavioral therapy.
Plus readiing all you can about it, having an active social life and career, normal relationships.
OCD will fester without these things. Good luck.

i think it depends on what your symptoms are cause some people have to do minor things before opening doors like clap 3 times while other people have to scream 10 times before eating cerial, if its in your thoughts like you cant stop thinking of something then i suggest help is needed cause that can lead to other problems
good luck
