My brother is the black sheep in the family. He's a drug addict, and recently got an std from some random girl. When my father died, he put his entire inheritance including money and property in an account and named me sole executor. My brother wasn't happy. He thought that I had convinced our father to leave him out, and now refuses to talk to me or have anything to do with our dying mother. I sent him a check for nearly half of the money, but he sent is back saying that he "didn't need our dirty money". Then I tried explaining things to him, but he wouldn't listen. What should I do to try to reconnect with him.

Sounds like you have extended the olive branch and the check, but if your brother does not want to accept it, there is nothing more you can do. Your father did the right thing and so did you. Forget about the ugly things your brother has said and done and concentrate on your mother. She needs you now.

Putt the money in a trust fund and save it for him when he wises up.If that never happens use it for his burial,and his leftover bill's. If their is anything left give it to hes family.

you've done your part being his sibling. just give him time to recover from all the things he'd been through and when the right time comes, he will understand you and you two will get along well again.

you have tried, it's up to him to come around. my brother is sorta similar...he doesn't talk to our family...or his son. so i did what i could and have to let him figure it out, in time he will
