First off, good job helping that cat!!
Now, call them up or go there, and say, "I let my cat out for one hour, and accidently took its collar off. I realize you took my cat. I'm sorry...Can I have my kitty back now?"
Or go to there association, and ask to adopt a cat. Give the description of the cat, and they may give it to you.
OR go there, and say you lost a cat...pretend to be innocent, and ask them if they saw a cat of that description. If they refuse it, you know they lied.

Call them right away...you may want to say it's your cat, particularly if you think it's unowned and because you have been feeding it, it may in fact be your cat! Here unless you say it's your cat, they can euthanise.

Call up AVA. You can either lie about the cat being yours or you can try and adopt him.
I'd lie and say he was mine. hehe. :)
