The only time I was able to retrieve data after a file was erased was on a disk.

When I asked for help at the computer lab, I was instructed not to save anything else onto that disk, but to give it to the assistant as is. He managed to read into the pure data on the disk, identify the strings of characters that made up the file I was looking for, and relabel that string or file by a name so I could call it up again.

This only worked because the data was not written over yet. I don't know if anything like this would work in your case.

You don't. That's why it is called the recycle bin. Oh, you might find a piece of software that can recover files, but in all probability, you would be fishing. Be more careful.

There is no easy way for the layman/laywomen to accomplish that. If the files deleted are that important I would stop using your PC immediately and take it to a repair shop that has expertise in data retrieval. The more you use your system the greater the odds that those file may be overwritten and lost for good.

There is software that can recover some of those deleted files provided you don't have a erasing program running in the background. It is called "Recover My Files"
