The answer to this, is a fairly easy one. You just have to bite the bullet and start slowly putting yourself out there. I used to be just like you. I had a good singing voice, but no one ever knew, because I was so terrified. Then, the church I go to, needed a new person to lead the singing service every week. A lady who sat close to me and knew that I had a good voice, nominated me! That first couple of times, I was totally scared to death. Now, I find that it isn't so hard anymore.

the only way to stop being shy is to be embarrassed beyond belief...and then realize who the hell cares?!?!?!?!
I don't suggest that you go looking for that embarrassment though!
