If your rice is mushy, you probably stirred it while you were cooking it. When rice water starts to boil, you should reduce the heat, put the lid on it, and don't peek or stir.
How can you fix mushy rice? I have two ideas. First, if the rice doesn't have much of a savory flavor, you could turn it into rice pudding. Cook it with some milk and a beaten egg. Add raisins, sugar, and cinnamon. Another solution would be to make it into fried rice.

If you are cooking your rice in a saucepan, I suggest cutting back to 1 3/4 C. of water to 1C. of rice. Bring salted water to a boil. Rinse and drain rice. Add to boiling water, stir so it doesn't stick, turn your heat down to the lowest setting, and cook, covered for 20-25 minutes for white rice, 35-40 minutes for brown. Shut the heat and let stand, untouched for at least 5 minutes. Tip: Line the pot cover with a tea towel (be careful the ends don't fall into the heat source). This will prevent condensation from getting the rice soggy. Good luck! If your rice is too al dente, bring the ratio of water up to 2:1, and cook the same as aforementioned.

Hm, I didn't know people were so particular about rice. Were you using a rice cooker? Usually, with a rice cooker I put about five cups of rice and then add water until it touches my knuckles when I lay my hand flat on the rice. Maybe that's just me though. However, if your rice is too much I suggest letting it dry out by leaving it in the cooker for some time on the "keep warm" setting, that works for me ^^

If it's mushy then that's it! But if it can still be salvaged then.... nope you can't do anything now. Whhatyou need to do in the future is to wash the rice to remove most starch then when boiling it add some butter or oil or something to prevent it from sticking. The mushiness happens because you left to the cook longer than required. Keep checking the grains!

You cooked it too long and there's no way to fix it.
For perfect rice, place 1 cup rice, 1/2 tsp salt and a pat of butter in a microwave safe casserole with a lid. Add 2 cups cold water. Microwave on high, uncovered for 15 minutes. Stir once during cooking. At end of 15 minutes, place lid on casserole and microwave for 5 minutes on high. Fluff with a fork. Also use a good quality rice, like jasmine. It smells like popcorn and the taste is incredible.

you put too much water in it. since you've already handled it, sorry, you cant fix it anymore. you could try cooking it further, but i dont think that would relieve the mushiness anymore. try storing it in the fridge for a while, then maybe you could make fried rice out of it.
