I sprinkled some baking soda in the bottom of my cat box and then tried some of the pine nugget litter. It sort of disintegrates into a mealy substance when the cat wets. It seems to absorb odor really well. I smelled pine but not the urine odor. I used it when I went out of town for a couple of days and it seemed to work well. The cat thought it looked funny at first, but didn't seem to mind it.

Try a Fresh Step litter. Or a tidy cats litter with deoderizers. Try getting an automated litterbox. Try adding a 1/2 cup of baking soda to the litterbox after every change. That should help. Also try changing it every 4 days instead of 7 and you shoul have 1 litter box for each cat plus one. So you should have 3 litterboxes. Good Luck

I would try a different brand of litter to see if they smell is better or maybe just less offensive. It's sounds like it's not a urine smell just the smell of the litter. You could also try getting an automatic litter cleaner mine has a air filter on it I think it works pretty well... but my cat's litter box is in a place that I dont often go so that could be why I dont smell it.

I have two cats and a small apartment and had the same problem. I found that the Cat Crystals are an excellent litter. I never smell it anymore. My parents have 4 cats and bought the Crystal litter and they never get that kitty litter smell either.

I recommend you use a scoopable cat litter. Fresh Step cat litters now come with odor eliminating carbon. In addition to that you can spinkle baking soda on it every couple of days or Tidy Cats Litter Box Deodorizer. You can also try buying cat foods formulated to reduce the odor of cat waste such as Authority's Indoor Formula.

Mix baking soda in with the litter. It will absorb the odors. Anytime you clean the box, add a bit more if you begin to smell it.

You could try those Kitty Crystals - they are supposed to work really well. My cats go in a litter box outside and I also use baking soda in it.
Or you could always try to potty train your cat! =)

I've tried many different brands and Fresh Step is the best for eliminating odor.
Good luck and happy holidays.
